I am absolutely and completely fed up and ANGRY Grrrrrrr:angry: of seeing so many people texting and using their mobile phones whilst driving. They are totally oblivious to everything around them. One its illegal (i never do anything illegal like breaking speed limits etc:hehe:) but its dangerous and it WINDS ME UP and in a minute someone who i pull up next to is going to be very surprised when my hand reaches in their window, graps their phone and it goes flying across the road:hehe: I feel the penalty should be more severe to stop them doing it (on a par with drink driving) or we should just kill them - see how they like it:angry:
I agree 100% with that, the penalties should be higher.
However, policing such laws will always be hard to do. So many stupid drivers and only so many police officers, who, quite honestly, could be better served elsewhere.
Hands free kits are good, but expensive, so I can see why people still use their phones normally, but texting is a total no-no. I was almost taken out today by a stupid woman (18, roughly) texting on her phone as she came down the 246 towards Guildford. Totally ignored the lights that were changing to red, and it was only because I checked my mirrors that i saw her shooting up behind me and got out of her way.
Phones should be banned in cars unless the car itself is the phone or hands-free kits are used. If I see you reaching into someoneâs window, I wonât stop youâŚ
Just do what my mate does on his gixxer 1000, he has twin racefit growlers and if he ever sees anyone using their phone whilst driving, pull the clutch in and give it a load of throttle, sh1ts the life out of them and they canât hear the phone call
One thing I have noticed is that since the penalties went up and involve points, it hasnât reduced the numbers who use phones in traffic, but has meant they are more likely to be used low down out of sight meaning the driver isnât even looking where they are going.
And people are using them like walkie-talkies, too. Just because it isnât pressed to your big, fat, stupid head, it doesnât mean itâs hands-free.
Itâs enough to make you wire a cellphone jammer to your bike. Then you can leave a trail of people behind you going âhello? hello? Damn, signalâs goneâ.
Only problem with that would be if you got off your bike to make a call, youâd have to disconnect the jammer to be able to do it, which could waste time in an emergency. Or even worse, if you come off and someone tries to call for help, they wonât know about the jammer, resulting in nastiness.
Also, looking at itâs techie specs, it looks like it could block some of the Emergency Services frequencies, but donât quote me on that. Something to bear in mind, though. Wouldnât want to be arrested for trying to uphold a law.
People driving and useing the mobile phone is my pet hate from drivers and itâs mainly women i see doing it and it winds me up. I stop at and say to them ** " do you realise how many people and children die from people driving and phoning at the same time"**
Most of the time they put there phones down and i hope what i said makes them think a bit.
ooo ow careful! I see all sorts of people on their fones - donât think more women than men - sexist remark. Just remember women often get cheaper insurance cos they considered safer drivers! Probably more youngsters than anyone else. Wouldnât it be great if we could just shoot them on the spot and it be legal :D:D:D:D it would be such fun too :D:D:D:D Meanwhile iâll just stick to a whopping loud as i can rev and if i get really cross shout some abuse :hehe:
if its not phones, it cigarettes, ipod and all that. Also whats with the new trend of drivers using earphones??? as if they needed any further isolation from reality. dont boot their doors in or anything though
