Ok, got a question about my mobile phone contract.I signed up to Virgin Mobile last Nov through my nearest Carphone Warehouse. Now, my contract is up for renewal. So I’ve had messages for Carphone Warehouse saying “you can have an upgrade, call us etc etc” But, I have already renewed the phone through Virgin (and got a free PSP into the bargain…when it arrives).
I tried getting a straight answer from both parties about who is actually looking after my contract, but because both parties are in the biz of making money, they both say “we are”, so I don’t know who to believe.
Shall I just ignore Carphone Warehouse all together? Seeing as the phone bills are all from Virgin anyway.
If you’re bills are from Virgin, stick with them. I’m with O2 from the Carphone Warehouse and my bills are from Carphone Warehouse. Sounds a bit iffy to me! Are you sure it’s Carphone Warehouse calling you not some randon company just trying their luck. I’ve had a lot of calls from these companies pretending I already have a contract with them
chris it may be real it may not…if you want another upgrade ask carphone if they will upgrade your phone at no cost and no change of tarriff or even better tarrif etc, more free minutes or whatever…haggle…there are some good deals about
you should ask the name of the company and their name most end the conversation there or ask if you could check with your service provider if alls not well advise your service provider of the details they have given you most are sales teams from 3rd party companies.A good con is third party companies offering great incentives money back etc the incentive part is with the 3rd party not the provider. this was recently highlighted on watchdog.they advised cheaper call rate or more minutes instead of cash back incentives .
Hi mate, how it works is that Carphone was the middle man in the beginning for you and virgin.
When you upgrade Virgin is dealing directly with you since they don’t need Carphone anymore as they are there intially to get them the customers.
Now Carphone will try to get you other offers etc since they don’t know you have sign up directly with Virgin.
You should tell them and ask them to stop calling otherwise there sales team most likely in India will keep on haunting you :w00t:
I used to have the same issue sometimes 3 or 4 different people calling in a day.
Ah, so thats how it works. I’m a bit niave when it comes to these contracts, as I was “pay as you go” for so long. I still can’t get my head around them sending me a new phone every year for nowt, as there is nothing wrong with the one I have Could make a few bob on fleabay I reckon.
I got my T-mobile contract at the carphone warehouse, as others have said they are the middle men, and each year when i due upgrade i go to their shop pick the one i want, they contact T-mobile and i get the phone, piece of p*ss really.
Go you. I decided to ditch the middle man & stick with just Virgin. Saves unwanted junk mail & crappy texts from now until the end of time…saying that, if Virgin don’t send the PSP I have been promised I may go elsewhere
