is that real or a dodgy CG thing. obviously it dont change colours like that for real
Paint layout on blue one is cool.
worryingly flats i think you’re being serious aren’t ya?
its just to show the diff colours/compare. its got the ol’ floating fairings and styling changes (easier to see on some of the other pics). personally prefer my 06 but haven’t seen this in the metal …
the number plates the same flats
looks like those colours are for the american market coz all the rear number plate sectionhas the reflectors on the side aswell!
Dont look really much diff at all!
yes its the new one…and it looks…bad. the older models are better looking…
german r1 forum: (with pics from the canadian yamaha page)
That’s the most that the R1 has changed in years.
So it has smaller or bigger mirrors and a new splash of paint? Sounds like just another yearly spruce-up like all manufacturers do on their second year of a new model. Am I missing something? Perhaps they can’t afford to update it any more after paying so much for Rossi to sign again
i see a new wing and frame.
and bigger mirrors…
nah buddy, fair few diffs
headlights/ram air ducts incorporated into the lights
floating front fairings (nose cose is now seperate from the side fairings
angular tank like the r6
tail more cut away (exhaust no longer incorporated into the lines but juts out the back)
i think the flatster put this on another thread but these are the 3/4 views - you can see it more on the red one
not massively keen
Hrm, I guess I was expecting more of a change. Well, perhaps it should be taken that this is as far as Yamaha feel they can take the R1. Will there be a new model over the horizon?
Whilst sportsbikes have had only had token provision for pillions, it would appear they’ve all but given up on tihs idea now, eh. I wouldn’t want to sit on the back of that. My Gixxer is bad enough.
Should have variable valve timing technology and a reduction in the number of valves from 20 to 16…Apparently for greater low down torque.
Stylistically, the R1 is the best looking Jap bike available…You can’t really improve perfection
Now stop gossiping about this 07 and help me with my 04

I also prefer the styling of the 06 bike. I really dislike the the layered fairing thing they have going on with the new bike. Ultimately, cosmetics changes aside I’m sure it’s pretty much the same bike. I’d be interested to see if they have put better heat insulating around the right peg… It was a bit of an issue during the hotdays this summer.
I’m expecting to see a much bigger change to the bike in 08/09.
