Midnight Rideout Summer 2014

Morning all!

CONFIRMED DATE 17th MAY

http://londonbikers.com/forums/855647/midnight-ride-out-28-08-11?PageIndex=16

Recently we dusted off some pictures on Facebook of the Midnight Rideout in 2011 which was hosted by the lovely Carmen. It was a mini tour of London including stop off’s at some iconic landmarks. We set off from Regents Park at Midnight and I think finished around 4am at the 24hr Bagel shop in Brick Lane. There were a good few comedy moments and some big crowds to see 30 odd bikers cruise around the city at night.

I am putting myself forwards for organising something this year (once the weather has improved). Open to all not just LB.

It’ll be a saturday night so everyone can adjust their body clocks for a night out and am happy to take suggestions on stop off’s. What I have already done is discussed with OMC at the idea of us starting off there with a quick brew. They are more than happy to do this.

I’d say the aim is to go over as many bridges and tunnels in London. So a zig-zag type route  I know I’d like to do Frith Street, maybe heading north over Waterloo Bridge so we get to go through that tunnel up to Holborn (the acoustics are a delight).

Those with a go-pro or camera are a must!

Let me know your thoughts!

UPDATE 16/05/2014

List of stop off Locations:

  1. OMC - Wandsworth Road - MEET UP POINT 15-17 Clyston St, London SW8 4TT Please get there for 23:30 hrs
  2. Buckingham Palace/Pal Mal
  3. Frith Street (will ride through, not enough space to park up)
  4. London Eye
  5. St Pauls Cathedral
  6. Brick Lane - Bagel Shop
  7. Canary Wharf
  8. McDonald’s on Trafalgar Way

:exclamation: PLEASE NOTE: This is not a fast rideout, due to lots of traffic lights, a mixture of riders (i.e. learners, newbies, experienced), a lot of riders in condensed space and also speed cameras. If you’re wanting a mad dash this won’t be for you!!

Also we will NOT be using cornerman as it is too dangerous for a large group however if someone wishes to tailgun that would be most appreciated :exclamation:

CONFIRMED DATE 17th MAY try to get to OMC around 11:30pm / 11:45pm (night of the 17th so Satuday night to Sunday morning!)

Well fancy that… got myself a gopro last week…any excuse to use it !!

The weather is already good…but cannot do this weekend !

YEah yeah yeah yeah ruff ruff ruff…

well done.
make sure you print a list of the route so people can regroup. we will inevitably get lost in traffic and in central london the cornerman system is a suicide mission.

Im in

haven’t been on any of the other ride outs as they are always hours out of London but this one sounds great!

This sounds like fun. If the weather is very good, I’d be up for it.

Sounds like a bit of fun!

Ill be up for this

count me in plus at least 3

I’m interested.

“Who let the dogs out!”

Count me in

are we limiting this to 30 people?

Not sure at the moment - there’s a lot of interest which is good but naturally the date i pick not everyone will be able to do and there will be last minute drop outs so at the moment I think we’ll keep it an open house

in!

I’m in.please

Nice one. Definitely interested. I did look at doing one in 2012, but then I realised I just don’t know Central London roads well enough myself to plot the route.

Main thing to consider, as mentioned already, the corner man system wont work around Central London. If you plot the route in advance, we can probably upload it so people can put it on their SatNavs in advance. Maybe have a set number of people that have the route, who try and stay spaced out within the bunch. When we get split at lights, they move to the front to carry on leading, hopefully to catch back up.

I’m happy to help with this in any way (apart from plotting the route  ), just let me know.

I’m up for a piece of the action! Only ever ride for work these days, could use a bit of a thrash

Mis-read this, thought it said “Midnight Sun Rideout”.

Were not up for that, but as its not we might be.
