Yesterday at the stunt show the idea was floated of a Midnight Ride Out around our glorious city.
Rumour has it that these have been done before, but a midnight run tends to attract the kn0bheads wishing to wheelie down the Mall. (We won’t mention any names.)
I’d like to do one, not because I want to wheelie down the Mall (on a CBF125? I don’t think so), but because I’ve been around London in the middle of the night on a bike, and it is just stunning - quiet, beautifully lit, and the regular tourist traps actually look gorgeous in the quiet of night. And it is fun being out with a few other bikes on deserted streets that are usually packed.
So is anyone else also up for this, (strike)and when should we do it (strike)? I’m trying to think of a night when the drunk people aren’t spewing out of clubs everywhere…
You are, of course, welcome to be a kn0bhead, but please appreciate that I’m a quiet bimbler on a 125 with L-plates, who tries to behave herself on the road; I’m not a racer.
We used to do the midnight run round london to all the landmarks then back to brick lane for a bagel/cake and coffee:D
Doubt i’d do it nowadays though at 107 db my exhaust would wake the dead!:w00t:
Brilliant idea! August Bank Holiday weekend for those of us not lucky enough to actually get away?
I can do any time next week cos I’m off work, but not going anywhere, just sorting out stuff at home and doing a few day trips here and there.
As for working 9-5…I do as well. Surely one morning straggling in late wouldn’t hurt? Or maybe it would. I don’t know. But you don’t have to be good all the time you know?
yeah, west end is a bit full, especially night time weekends. But I had loads of fun riding (well, legging it a bit ) from Blackheath to Chelsea to Clapham Tea hut to Soho, some nice streets inbetween, not many people on the
roads, probably interesting views as well, etc.
Few people on here work for a living in the City at odd hours and ride through it regularly at 4am.
I am more interested in doing a 2am BCR type ride out. Might actually do it this week, while the weather is semi-good…should do it tonight though really, supposed to rain tomorrow for a short bit. Hmmm interesting thoughts.
Proper country lanes with not a soul in sight, and even when the odd vehicle does come, you can see headlights.
