Brilliant gig, I already knew the o2 acoustics outstrip any other live music venue I’ve ever visited and again they didn’t disappoint.
Metallica played some of the new stuff, but laid down the classics. The new stuff is certainly worth a listen, wasn’t much of a ST.Anger fan but thought it was ok, but liked the stuff they played last night.
A few idiots in the venue but there always are.
About 5 mins into the set after the first song, he was getting the crowd fired up. When he said this little gem, “put your phones and cameras away, enjoy the music, a crappy blurry video of us on you tube will not make you famous, enjoy the music, you can call your mum later”.
There were more bikes parked up than previous gigs I’ve seen there, all in all, great night!
Glad it was a good gig. Sounds like I need to go out and buy the new album.
I’m not surprised James Hetfield talked about videos on Youtube. Metallica were at the forefront of the lawsuits against companies selling or showing music royalty free.
Like the quip about phoning your mum though!
Their set at Reading this year was a corker - some awesome old stuff and a few covers i hadnt heard live before!
Would loved to have heard them on the O2 sound system too as its is probably one of the best purpouse built systems in the world - Wonder if they still used their own gear however as they tour with a fe Million $ of gear for ever live gig they do - Hence sounding great at reading when EVERY other band has sound issues!

Only found out about the gig a day before it as well. So was pretty lucky I think to get the Tickets.
The system in use looked like the o2’s been there a few times for gigs and it certainly appeared to be the house system. Just louder than I’d ever heard it :pinch:
