Does an AN400 count as a scooter, or a small bike?
It`s counted as a maxi scooter.
It may be hard to step through the “step through” frame but is definitely a maxiscoot.
“Megascoot” surely! So it’s ok to talk about them in this section of the forums?
I own a maxi scoot and have a maxi scoot forum if you would like to join.
There are plenty of people here with maxi scooters.
Most of the pictures on this page are about my machine.
http://www.bikeweb.com/image/tid/24 It’s the one with the rickman topbox on the back seat. Lots of mods.
- Heated grips (Oxford)
- Triumph Tiger handguards
- Givi screen cut for width and height
- Cut down seat
- Pull backs on the handlebar mounts
- Rickman topbox as an improvised back rest using the cushion from a Helix
- Estate agent sign wind panels for summer, Tucano Urbano lap cover for winter
- 60-55W H4 headlights
- Malossi CVT kit
- Cut down mirror stems
Among other things this machine went two up to Glastonbury with all our gear. But mostly it’s used for commuting into London.
The Volvo seat back was a fun exercise but the seat frame isn’t really strong enough to support it so it came off again.
I see from your pictures “3 up on a K3”… Is this legal?
No seriously, if you can fit 3 people on a mega scooter is it against the law to do so?
A Volvo seat on a scooter???
WTF???:w00t:
Whether it’s possible or not, and it certainly is possible, I’m sure it’s illegal. This isn’t a third world country, thah knows.
Yes, well. Bikeweb is home to a lot of fairly strange people who like that sort of thing. Low seat, proper seat back, feet forward riding position. Why does motorcycling have to be uncomfortable? Why shouldn’t it be at least as comfortable as a Caterham 7 or a Lotus Elize? But like I said, it didn’t really work on the Burger without a lot more modification.
Try this one.
Here’s my machine and the ComffortMax. You’ll see where I was trying to go with that Volvo seat back.
The ComffortMax is an amazing machine but has it’s own drawbacks. A lot of it is overbuilt and it’s ended up tail and top heavy but it is nicely finished. I actually took it round to harris and Steve H sat in it and was actually quite impressed. I figured a Burger 400 would be a better starting point, but my building skills aren’t up to it. I’m really more of a bodger. And I’m too busy using the Burger to take it off the road and really go to town on it.
Performance Bikes editor Tim Thompson seems to have a Burger 400 as a staff bike. IIt gets raced round a kart track and mentioned in tools we like in the May issue.
