I was doing 80mph on the way home tonight on my rebored DRZ450SM and the engine (20.000 mile since rebore) started clattering like a push rod has come loose, does any one know of an independent motorcycle mechanic in the Iver / Uxbridge area?
I’m from iver, don’t know of any mechs from round there though, I do all my own but I live down in Dorset,
The only push rod in that motor is for the clutch isn’t it??
You’ll have a cam chain in there not push rods!
were you reving it hard when it went ? …take the plug/plugs out and have a look as first thing , see it there is any rubbish in there …if thats ok check the cam chain tensioner …it sounds like a loose cam chain , but it could be a bent valve ( hence the plug check )
just a thought did a dealer do the rebuild for you , if so then take it back there , if not see above …
either way don’t use , if the cam chain jumps a sprocket its goodbye engine
