McGuiness crash fly by wire issue?

Ouch. Just seen this. Honda don’t know yet what caused the engine not to shut off. I’m scared of fly by wire on bikes. Other than fuel injection I have not much else AFAIK…

Ssame thing that happened to Casey Stoner in the Suzuka 8 hour IIRC

Nasty. The data logger should give them some insight. A cable throttle can also jam wide open. You’d hope if it happened to you, you’d have the time to pull the clutch but a road racer probably doesn’t have that margin.

It’s hit the kill switch not pull the clutch in. That’s what they tell you on track day safety talks. I wouldn’t want to find out anyway.

It's fly by wire, so no cable.  The butterfly valves for the throttle are operated by servo motors.

I’m just saying the problem is not isolated to fly by wire hence “also.”
