Dave Wood from DWR (Dave Wood Racing in Aylesbury) is hosting a track day at Mallory Park on Tues 11th July for only £120.
I have been invited to join them but still unsure as I’m a bit scared
of binning my pride an joy all for the love of trying and fcuking up, although it is my day off
There is not many places left in Novice group but plenty in the 2 higher ones… Inters and Advanced.
Call them on 01296 336750 for further details and booking.
I had a moment of madness yesterday and went and booked myself on this
If any of you guys have any advice (as its my first) then pls just throw it this way and if anyone can make it just for support then I’d be greatful
Brave of you to book it on an impulse. Have fun, youll love it. Heres a few simple tips
ENJOY YOURSELF
PRACTICE GOING INTO CORNERS IN CONTROL BUT GET A GOOD DRIVE OUT (SLOW IN FAST OUT)
LOOK WHERE YOU WANT TO GO AND YOU WILL GO THERE. (LOOK AT THE SCENERY AND YOU`LL END UP THERE)
DONT WORRY ABOUT WHAT`S GOING ON BEHIND YOU, ANY RIDERS WHO ARE QUICKER WILL FIND THEIR OWN WAY PAST
KEEP HYDRATED, THIS WILL HELP PREVENT LOSS OF CONCENTRATION
STAY IN YOUR COMFORT ZONE NOT SOMEONE ELSES AND GRADUALLY BUILD UP YOUR PACE AS YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE TO DO SO
IF IN DOUBT FLAT OUT, OOPS SORRY FORGET THAT ONE
IF EVER YOU FIND YOURSELF GOING IN TO A CORNER TOO QUICK (WHICH EVERYONE DOES AT SOME TIME) ITS EASY TO PANIC AND GRAB THE FRONT BRAKE MID CORNER. DONT! JUST GRADUALLY LEAN THE BIKE OVER AND YOU`RE MUCH MORE LIKELY TO MAKE IT
PRACTICE USING THE FRONT BRAKE MORE IN FACT 100%. I PERSONALLY USE NO REAR BRAKE ON TRACK.
AND LASTLY, ENJOY YOURSELF.
re , bike set up. you need to reduce your tyre pressures. Also as you get quicker you`ll find the suspesion will need firming up
Cheers B, all noted and itching with excitement and fear but that’s where I’m happy, love living on the edge
Was thinking about this today and its people passing me and knocking me off thats my worse fear, sliding up the inside when I’m trying to take the right line, ie both going for the same lines, maybe I just been watching too much Rossi and Biaggi
nice one lmrr dont worry you will love it…
Just think about it as nice road with nothing coming the other way (hopefully)
Its not a race and your riding will improve no end, thats not to say your crap now.

id love to join you but work is a monkey on my back for the rest of this year…
Just try to keep to your line and concentration where YOUR going LMRR and not swerve if possible if youre distracted by other bikes, it does take a bit of getting used to bikes overtaking but your cofidence will grow with each session and soon youll be doing it back to them.
At most trackdays you`re told to practice overtaking on the brakes before the corner or after exiting the corner for obvious reasons. However, sometimes it cannot be helped so if it is necessary then try to leave the other rider plenty of space so he/she do not pee their pants.
Have fun, look forward to hearing about it.
Just made a call and may have a secret weapon for tuition for the day
Oh it’s on the day that I go up to Cadwell for another trackday…
Ponder ponder…
Awww
Have you already paid for that one?
