Making a mould...

Firstly… Hi all and happy new year. Yes i know its abit late but ie not posted on here for a while and not at all since the new year.

Right on to the subject in hand…

I want to have a play around making something for my bike build.

I need to create a mould to work off but what would be a good material to use?

Ideas please…

I know someone uses clay and others have used wood. I need something thats going to stay in the shape i bend it to but be easily remoulded till i get everything where i want want it within the frame to then make a cast for layering up with CF

cover the number board in latex let set then plaster cast over it. once set remove number board

or a more easy way is buy one you tight git

Not for that bud… its for something else :stuck_out_tongue:

initial shape from wood…then make a mould off it using fibreglass…then use the mould to layer up your CF with linen cover(helps give a nice finish).

will need a room that keeps a constant temperature(prefferably access to an autoclave) and Vacuum bagging system of some sort to set your CF(and get all the air bubbles out of it)

I think

youtube it … loadsa vids on there

haha, is he going to fit it to the seat to help him stay on? :stuck_out_tongue:

 What… like some kind of restraint system?.. a kind of seatbelt for motorbikes?

Would sportsbike riders need a bigger one?

Does this have the Mrs Mad-dog seal of approval?

trust you :w00t:

Yes, because of how much they take it in the poop shoot

mate someone beat you to it

You’ll need dental alginate. You can get it on ebay, cheap as chips. Plaster contracts when its dry and you wont get a good fit for the parts. Create a negative in alginate and then form this using resin to make a positive. You can then mould all the parts you want.
