Low gears on 125s.

I have ridden on YBRs, CGs and my own CBF. On the CG in particular I found that when I have had to go really slow, like in 20mph back streets with lots of hazard potential or in heavy traffic, it was kind of tricky to get it to change down gears. Sort of sticky, and I need to bring the clutch in and out slightly, stop and then give it a good stomp to get it down. And I’m finding this on my CBF too, but haven’t ever had problem with the YBRs I’ve ridden.

What I want to know is whether this is just a small engine thing, a Honda thing, or whether I have buggered something up?

dont remember anything like that on my SR125 (though it has nearly been a year since i rode it)

and dont get that on the bikes at work (honda innova 125 / suzuki address 125 - pizza bikes)

You’ve had loads of 125s!?!

Are you pulling the clutch lever in fully? It may need adjusting…
Might help to blip the throttle on the downshifts

The gearboxes on 125s are pretty w@nk as it is but a round of fresh oil might help to smooth things up…

No no, I haven’t *had * loads, I just ridden around on loads. That’s all.

Yup, I pull the clutch in all the way, but I haven’t yet adjusted it…maybe I’ll have a tinker. Though I tried that on a CG and it didn’t make much difference.

Maybe it is just a w@nky 125 gearbox?
