the new 2013 Honda CRF450R comes with Forks that dont have springs in them!! instead they use air to act as a spring!
Fournales were doing this 40 years ago!
its quite cool but springs don’t leak
Air is light and easy to adjust - it’s used in a lot of mountain bike forks for just that reason.
That does come at the cost of simple maintenance though.
