Long hair and motorbikes

when you are doing speeds above 50mph what do you do to your hair so that it doesnt turn into knots?

can this be avoided? if not whats the best (less painful) way of unknotting the hair?

I can’t honestly say I’ve noticed my hair knotting as a result of riding … but I guess I’ve always got mine tied back which may be the answer

Yep, tie it back. It doesn’t get too knotted up.

I daren’t go out with it flowing free, Timotei style, though. I get enough “Awight, darlin!” as it is. :hehe:

just got back from a ride and my hair is a mass of knots , i never ever put a brush or comb near it just comb conditioner thro it with my fingers in the shower and that usually does the trick .

Well at least it didnt rain so my makeup hasnt run all down my face ;):w00t:

I hate it when that happens.

I always wear my hair in a plait if I just tie it up it becomes all knotty.

As mine is not mega long i get a few knots just wish i could plait my own hair but am too cack handed to get it neat :stuck_out_tongue:

When you have a long ponytail (eg 5150 and Mr-C) can you tuck it down the back of the jacket? In-between length hair does get a bit knotty at times but I do the same as Zeph.

lol :D:D

What, and make my back even hairier than usual? :hehe:

No, I did try that once, but it made it very uncomfortable, and then everything came undone when I did my first lifesaver at the end of the road.

totally know wot you mean m8, well might be abld now but hair was down to me arse.

either platted it or had it in a pony tail with another hair band at bottom of the tail too.

+1

I tried to bunch it down once with my comfy/neckwarmer and as I tried to look over my right shoulder and pull away - it felt like I was wearing a neckbrace - so then had the faff of taking gloves and helmet off so I could re-tie my bobble

Incidentally - I had my first haircut in 18 months a few weeks ago - they took 7 inches off - and nobody at work could tell any had been chopped :w00t: oh well …

I just let it get knotty and brush it out at the other end…

I now get it cut when it gets too long. Got really fed up with the knots. You could try tying it up with a bobbie pin

double up the pony tail! Although when i lost my hair elastic on Afros ride out it didnt know up :stuck_out_tongue:

I get asked to do this at circuit. I cut it instead as it restricts your head movement. Thats why my hair is never really all that long (it grows about as quickly as those plasticene potatohead men).

I was once told a story about young LB ladies who carried brushes everywhere to unknot the knots at the end of the journey (clearly post Timotei display…)…

I don’t have a brush in my bag for when I get to work.

Nope. Not me.

:ermm:

When I had long hair on the bike, (ahem - yes it was a long time ago!) used to tie it up as well, and try and tuck it in, but again got the same problem when looking over the shoulder… Used to have loads of problems with the bands falling out though… Then I started to use elastic bands which dont fall out, but are a bit of a bother to get out!

But conditioner is the way to get the knots out…

I’ve just resolved that problem…had all mine chopped off so nothing sticks out under the helmet.

Get Dreadlocks and you’ll never have to worry:cool:
