An idea…let me know what you guys think i call it London Tag
The Rules…
Someone must post a photo of a Landmark. For instance, a building, dam, art, park sign… something that we could go out looking for via our bikes. The first to find the location & post a photo of the original location with their bike in the picture wins the right to post the next location for others to find (must be posted within 24hrs).
This is a great way for all of us to ride roads or see things that we may never have given a second thought to.
The boundary is whatever you want it to be. It could just be London or basically everywhere that people can go to
The whole point is just to ride around trying to find the place and it might take you some where you never been. Or maybe everyone has been everywhere?
yeah i sort of thought about that…London being so huge. hmm. does everyone really know London that well and all surrounding areas? but then again not everyone lives around London. i guess this was worth presenting the idea
Once you narrow down the postcode surely the internet and google street view could be used to confirm where it is, the difficult part isn’t knowing where it is, it is getting there on your bike and snapping a pic.
I do agree though that a random place in London would be insanely difficult to find. But an “interesting” place in London with a Post Code and a good pic should be easily found.
I like the idea. Whether I would take part would depend on how far I had to travel and when.
This is a thread from the tag game run on another forum. http://themotorbikeforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=16908 I think you may have to register to view this board. The thread was much longer as its been running for quite some time. So periodically the moderators delete some of the earlier posts. There are two threads one for the pics and one for the discussion about the tags. http://themotorbikeforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=27906 On that forum the tag can be anywhere in the UK. Currently its at lands end. But its been up in Scotland.
These are the rules on that forum
You ride to the current tag photo. (Keep it in the UK!)
You photograph your bike at that location showing both your bike and the object in the photo.
You then take a photo of your bike in front of another landmark, geographic location, etc.
Post both photo’s following the rule.
Another rider then must tag your photo.
Some of the tags are obvious either because its a famous landmark or because of a sign on the building. Often they can be located by using search engines and basic information about what is in the picture. If its more obscure then a clue is given on the discussion thread.
Restricting it to London would mean that people don’t get to ride as far or on many of the better roads. But its up to you.
Just what we thought and we`ve found a similar idea on another site running over the summer with points collected for milage and number of sites visited.
oh god looks like i will be famous again for being the nutter who travelled all the way from West Wales to Hull to get the first tag hmmm lets see also in that day i did the Lake district , Matlock Bath , Ace Cafe and back to Wales …
No, this is a simple soft core version with no more than 40,000miles and £4,000 to set aside over four months to win the prize of a 10 pack of kit kats.
The first place is… Streatham Hill Police Station. A very scenic and beautiful building located in a historic and unique part of Olde Londinium
The occupants of this historic building particularly like bikers performing wheelies, donuts and other stunts outside and always enjoy posing for photos when they are in full uniform - and even better if you decide to race a police car on the way up;)
They are the chunky Kit Kat one finger variety The clock starts when you start the challenge :DDetails will be posted up within the next week or two - working title is “Summer Challenge” but may develop.Watch this space:)
