Yeah agreed they’re heavy and no doubt dangerous to be carrying on you if you come off, me and my work mate are gonna just leave the chains at work so we won’t need to be lumping them around with us.
Maybe get another Almax for work then and leave it in your office? Like you said, the chain will pay for itself along with the bike if you use it instead of using the train, you get to enjoy your bike and a decent commute, and like MrMooMoo said above ^ the tea-leafs seem to be deterred by the Almax.
Sorry thought I had the pic online, they guy had his bike chained with an Alamax to the railings and in broad daylight it was angle grinded off and bike stolen.
Even Almax are not 100%. Islington, broad daylight. if they want it they will have it regardless.
^ at the end of the day that’s what it comes down to then I suppose - if they want it bad enough they’ll take it. Don’t suppose you know which Almax? I’ve just ordered a series IV.
Yeah, think this might be the original thread…and these are the pics. Hopefully a Series IV would be harder to cut through, but phantomgixer also said in that same thread that he cut through his Squire lock (can be ordered with the Almax chains) in around 2 mins. I reckon I’d hear someone using an angle grinder on my chain from my desk in my office, if so I’ll be straight out there in less than 2 minutes with a hammer :Whistling:
It would be good if the stolen vehicle database also captured details of attempted thefts so we can start reporting hotspots to police and have them for our own awareness
I use a shitter in London for commuting. A 21 year old Africa Twin that scuffed to buggery and is filthy. Had scrotes try (and fail) to nick it twice. God knows what was in their head to try and take it.
Even so, I’d rather that got nicked than my shiny toys.
