London Bike Tours - riding group

hi guys,we are putting together riding group**********************hope to see you on a road soon, cheers

I’m sure the Mark & Ang club does something similar :stuck_out_tongue:

uuulala haha perfect timing man

Seems that everyone is opening a group these days … Shall I open one?

Good luck with yours

Just as a handy warning, you’ll be viewed as competition, rather than just some people wanting to ride their bikes, and especially so if you plan any rideouts. If you plan a ride that’s on the same day as someone else is planning one this will be assumed to be an act of spite and you will be seen to be presumably trying to take people from that other ride or something. I’m not really sure how it’s worked out who gets to call dibs on which days, but lots of things here are unspoken rules.

If you are concerned about clashing, rideouts are planned in this subforum, but there’s no sane way to find out if there’s one on any given day:

What’s wrong with this riding group?

It appears to be using a free-to-user group (London Bikers) to recruit for a paid-for service (Meet-up) which appears to contravene rule B (http://londonbikers.com/forums/51663/Welcome-Newbies) which states “Posting threads for commercial gain is not really on.”

However, when some people challenged a meet-up post earlier (the one posted by Pao3 - see above) Andrew said that no-one else could make the rules and seemed to imply that Paula’s posting was okay.

I’m not a lawyer, so I’m ambivalant (I learnt this word from Jetstream)

Does that hurt?

At least Paula made a contribution to LB!!

Nice first post, thanks for the intro :Whistling:

I will look at this further in the morning.

I meant our group.

Is there something wrong with our rideouts that two other groups this week felt the need to advertise themselves rather than join in?

It was a rhetorical question meant as a joke. :stuck_out_tongue:

I think you are very brave, after the ticking off dished out in the other thread.

Well, it sort of splits my difference: ambi - both, valant - Present participle of valoir (I’m working hard here) which translates as bullsh1t

On your bike son. (<-- see what I did there, I’m hilarious).

Keep up the bullshit BenSir Amos, we need more supporters:D

IMO anyone can post up any ride and go on any ride they like ( unless this is the North Korean bikers in which case we might have to get permission from Kim Jong Un) Heck I even posted a ride out and then abandoned it to go on another one at the same time, lost that one and ended up with Nick and Geoff at the coast (not to take this as a good example  ) Plus have gone on one ride before lunch and another one or two afterwards.
If anyone wants to organise rides from Hells Angels Chapters, to Catholic Priests on Acid, from pootles in the park to treks across the flood infested wastelands of Somerset, good luck to them and may the force be with you

All ride outs on two or even three wheels are good

goes off for a lie down

Agreed, but for their first ever post and no interest in contributing to the site is a bit cheeky to say the least.

I will be removing this thread later.

Catholic Priests On Acid

Awesome, were do I sign in?

I take your point PJ, but I think if someone wants to post up a ride, it’s a really nice thing to do, even if it is a link to a non ‘LB’ ride - we all go on rides with different groups - I do. Just saying that I think we should encourage all ride outs and all bikers to participate and people can choose from a variety of different meets to suit them.
I’d hate to see London Bikers become too exclusive.
Laters!
H

aww thanks  cool:

Or maybe something even more random, like Neo Druid Priestesses on quad bikes ride out or Rusty in his nurses outfit ride out
