locker for your bike

Just seen this:

http://www.motosafe.co.uk/

Pretty cool, wonder how many will get installed.

Surely you’d need planning permission for something like that ?

Doubtful - it’s just a shed isn’t it? Or do you need planning permission for one of those nowadays :doze:

I see you can get one for home as well. But at £1200 they would be quite an investment - not impossible though, when you consider how much you would save in insurance premia. For high risk areas it would probaly pay for itself in 6/7 years.

I think SWHTBO would frown if I put one in the front garden.

No way the management company or my neighbours would allow that to be put in the carpark. Looks an eyesore.

if its on the road or car park what stops someone from just using it to store illegal things and their crap?

Nothing but is a fairly expensive investment just to store crap in and a little conspicuous for ones illegal goods.

I stick all my stolen goods in a rented lock up much better

Looks like its hollow on the bottom ? cant you then just push it over ?

lol … not unless your AlexGold

I remember reading last year that some councils were thinking of using these as parking bays. Wonder what happens when the time’s up?

With that catflap under the keypad - BlueLagos’ moggy would still be happy

Good choice of colour!

A fantastic idea and I would be very happy to pay for bike parking if it means I get to use one of those, it’s also brilliant that you can store your gear in there, with a shelf for helmets etc.

The sooner this catches on nationally, especially in London, the better.

Almost makes me want to move to Sheffield or Leeds. That’s obviously where the more switched-on local authorities are

A neighbour of ours used to have a similar thing on the front drive - but a more domed shape, grey in colour, not such an eyesore.

It looked as though it had a floor and was bolted in with things like ground anchors but he had it removed and took it with him when he moved, by the firm that supplied it.

Never asked him about planning permission but it stayed there for as long as he did - if it was contravening a byelaw Brent council would have made him move it.

if its not a permanent fixture or attached to the house you dont need planning permission, i know someone that stores a big old harley in something similar but its alot posher, has a rolling floor and looks a lot less garish

try one of these

i looked at the secure-a-bike one before making the bike fit into the shed…much better i think, less conspicuous too

My cousin has the green one and a friend has a bike safe both are in the front garden with no complaints from the council, but a mate put a small shed in the front and was told to take it down.

Surely the neighbours could argue that it is a permanent fixture though? It’s not like you’d just have it up for a couple of weeks ?

Hmm it might be good if it didn’t post al over the damn box that there is a motorbike inside… so if you have it in thb back it could look like storage:(

my mistake, so its like a pay toilette except that you can only use it once really for the whole day and by 1 person only, so we would need about 50 of these near each bike bay? I would probably just be happy getting one in the back garden or on the driveway. Not sure how it will pick up in the city, will it go by first come first served? reserv it 10 years in advance? will only people with £7k+ bike be able to book it as priority?
