When I rode down to Borough last week I thought I’d be clever and not wear my ear plugs as I wanted to be more aware of the City traffic.
Big mistake!.. My ears were ringing when i got there lol
Dontcha love Big Vees?![]()

I got one of those little remote thingys and have it stuck on the tank with velro, very handy, saw Oggy last night at the lights and popped it on pause for a chat ![]()
Observations are key though riding with or without music. Good to know it’s not illegal though.
If I had to listen to the “Bee Gees - How Deep is Your Love” while I rode I’d want to kill someone!! ![]()
liar liar pants on fire! ![]()
(re choice of music)
I used to listen to my walkman all the time while riding my MT50 as a teenager. It was cool. Until I wiped out on a gravel road and almost garroted myself with the headphone cable. Still didnt stop me doing it though.
Tried again about a year ago and just couldn’t get on with it. What scared me most was being overtaken by fast vehicles on motorways - they just seemed to appear from nowhere. Its only without your hearing that you realise how instinctively you use it.
not a good idea, i almost killed myself doing that!
I can’t ride mine without music now … I find it boring !
Although I listen to my music through my Nokia 6300 it’s not the loudest setting … and I can stil hold a conversation with someone ! ![]()
I can recomend a generic i pod, no hassle with battery charging, no agonising over which noise cancelling head phones, memory - as vast as your own… yes singing to yourself. I wear an Arai helmet & find it to be very reverberant.
Problem is, once you get locked into some tracks, unlike normal i pods it can be very difficult to shuffle forward. Recently from nowhere a Slim Whitman song arrived, try as I might I couldn’t shift it, probably embeded in my consciousness from whatching Mars Attacks recently.
Infact if you know the scenario, that would be very handy to wipe out some of these pathetic car drivers on motorways, especialy the one who pulled out in front of me at the begining of the M23 southbound yesterday! Those R1 brakes still work well.
Yodelaieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
