I agree with Janey, one piece for track days as two thirds of that one piece needs to be secured from the mankiness as it not a case of just pull em down.
Willing to be proved wrong but a good all round zip should cover most road use and occasional track.
Get one tailor made for you at Hideaway Leathers
Itās far easier to get leathers ātaken inā by a leather tailor, than ālet outā. Ā
I can vouch for the quality of service from Hideout ( http://www.hideout-leather.co.uk/ ).Ā I had my two pice made to measure, changed some of the colours on the panel, had extra pockets added and velcro knees for sliders, not that Iāve my knee down for over 9 years, ahem.Ā It is truly top quality kit, and that is reflected in the price, which in my case was Ā£1,420.Ā They do alterations too, and it is certainly worth giving them a call.
I have previously used Nick Nicholson 01992 463067 to do alterations on my previous Joe Rocket leathers.Ā Heās based in Hoddessdon, Herts EN11. Hereās a paste of a previous posting onĀ http://www.thelondonbikers.com about Nick
I used Nickās services for alterations to my leathers. Ā Previously I ādidnāt have a buttā as far as the trousers were concerned, thank you for your kind comment StrumminRonin. Ā I had the jacket altered too, and no longer look like I have a beer gut. Ā He also tailored the collar in a bit and did some minor repairs to my gloves. £75 was a reasonable price for that I reckon. Ā Nick gets my recommendation.
Avoid Cissbury Leathers (Ā http://www.cissburyleathers.co.uk/ )though.Ā An ex student of mine had major problems with them buying clothing from them on-line.Ā I wonāt bore you with details, unless you want them.Ā Just avoid.
Dainese come up very small. My textiles are 3 sizes bigger than everything else I wear
Bike leathers donāt stretch that much
Wasp is shamazing. Leather extraordinaire. Not sure she uses the forum much now, but I can ping her a note if youāre interested.
You canāt ālet clothes outā - only take them in. Buy bigger.
Wasp is very pricey and really hard to contact, I tried emailing and calling her to replace a zip on my boots and when she finally replied it was only about another Ā£40 to replace the boots (RST tractech EVOās)
Perhaps you get a better deal and contact if she likes you
Lol.
Might give Nick a call to see if he can alter my jacket so it doesnāt look like l have a beer gut. Ā£2,000 should be reasonable so lāll weight til after Christmas and kill two birds with one stone (see what l did there)
Used hideout to alter a Belstaff jacket, my thinking was they work with leather all day everyday this would be a walk in the park - how wrong, gave up after the third attempt, they even cut one sleeve shorter than the other. Absolute joke
IIRC doing zip boots is really tough as thereās so little materialĀ to work with. She replaced the zip on my Dainese jacket for about Ā£60 with a much sturdier one and itās still going 3 years later
I think Iāll just size up, will be cheaper and if it does give and get baggier, itās much easier to take in
Go a size up and eat mince pies until it fits.
Two grand to alter your jacket ⦠how many cows do you need to add on ā¦!
There is a distinct lack of pics in this thread.
