anyone fancy coming? the sailings were put online for this year before last year’s had even finished so we need to get in and booked on the ferry asap to nab a decent crossing.
Yes it will be camping unless you can find a hotel yourselves but TBH, the camping is worth it for the lols.
Date is 7/8th-14th June. Racing ends on the 12th.
Cost for the ferry is likely to be an extortionate £250 return from Liverpool or Heysham.
Campsite is £6pppn. http://ballamoarcampsite.im/
I’m happy to lead the group and show you around but if you want to do your own thing that’s fine with me.
Initially I’m going to limit this to 20 places, just to keep it manageable.
this is something that every biker should do once in their life. Speak to anyone who’s been and they’ll tell you it’s amazing.
Indeed, it’s the dog’s bollocks. A full on biker experience from the moment you set off until you arrive home. If anybody is thinking of going, don’t dilly-dally and get booked up, you won’t regret it. Not sure about 2015 yet but I’m going this year, my last visit was in 2012. Already excited
I just rang the steam packet. the ferry sailings for 2015 are released on the first day of TT this year (26th May 2014). I’m going to get the afternoon crossing on the 6th from Liverpool and come back on the morning of the 15th. This leaves 1 day to get everything sorted before the races start on the 8th and 2 days afterwards to chill out and enjoy the roads before heading home.
If anyone wants to join me & mrs groovy doing that then please do.
I’ve done the twisty route to liverpool and I’ve done the motorway, there’s pros and cons for each but I’ll be doing mostly motorway.
The campsite will accept post sent to them before the event so you can send all your gear via courier before you arrive to save taking it on the bike.
oh and one sort of condition of coming, for the first race I’d insist we go to sulby straight. it’s kind of a tradition I take new people there for their first time cos it’s such a great spot.
Don’t forget to add some for petrol once there!! Once you have done the mountain (no speed limits and one way for the two weeks) you will want to keep doing it
Plus the women in the church on sulby straight make some lovely tea and homemade cakes
Awesome trip, I’d also say if it’s your first time, try and come back a couple of days after the tt finishes, so, you can enjoy the mountain course still being one way and spend a couple of days riding it after most of the traffic and loons have left
