LB Divided

Going on that wootten bassett run yesterday got me to thinking. Seeing all the differing groups of riders arriving in large packs” obviously from a wide selection of different clubs and organisations around the country” I was jealous of the fact they were in large groups and we wasn’t.

So I’m starting to ask myself questions about londonbikers.com. LB comes across to me as a community divided in the sense that all LB members are off doing their own little thing with their preferred little groups, so with big events such as the wootten bassett rideout you’re left looking to see if you can spot another LB member.

This is not right surely, did we make a mistake and not organise ourselves accordingly? is their others that would have been proud to arrive together as londonbikers? And if so do we need leaders of these big events? Someone that can step in and pull all of us together as on big unit representing LB.

Or is the question really that I’ve joined the wrong thing and should continue looking for this unity?

Or it could be the case that I don’t get it and LB is fine.

You’re a lost soul Rob

I think part of the problem of this one mate was we all had to specify a time when we wanted to arrive , rather than them tell you when.

As such this left each one to organise their own slots.

If we had all sat down and decided " ok all put 11-12 " then we could have.

But to your point , would have required someone to take charge and sort it or put up a poll.

You volunteering for the future ?

Stiring up trouble again Rob :stuck_out_tongue:

Although we are all Londbikers I am sure you understand that not everyone actually lives in London, there were several different meeting points for people comign from different directions, we could have arranged to meet up at services beforehand but maybe just wasn’t organised that well between us all, everyone had different time slots too. Maybe you could go buy a harley and join one of the big groups you are so jealous of  Anyway, you got on TV, what are ya moaning about

That’s my point JC, and dont say me because i’ll defo be last on the list but thier is some long time members on here that could fit that roll;)

I vote…YOU

Not moaning Tiggs, thats the last thing i’ll do:D Just think sometimes things could be organised better;)

Although a Newbie to the site, my first impressions of Lb is that it is a tight knit community. I will try my best to get to meets, BM is my best chance, as I live way out from the Ace cafe. Many years ago trying to organise everyone for the Mayday, Boxhill runs etc was a nightmare.

Back in the 1980’s we all used to meet at Blackheath tea stand, ride to Chelsea bridge, then on to Heston services on the M4. In those days I would estimate maybe 1000 bikes, from all parts of SE London Kent etc.

I think it would take someone with lots of time on their hands to be the organiser, with family, jobs etc we all have limited time. I have been trying to navigate around this site, and it seems pretty well organised, ride out breakfast meets etc.

I am very impressed and looking forward to meeting you all soon.

Johnny

the problem is that we are **london ** bikers. nothing to do with the internet or whether we ride the same bike but the fact that we live in London.

you got to agree its not the friendliest of places, i mean dont dare and make eye contact on public transport. and even ‘we’ are not as friendly (dont nod) in London (ok for various reasons)

also at the end of a tiring day & faced with a long commute home most would rather get home and relax than stand about at a meet (especially if it very out of their way)

so we have different types of LBers:

those that are happy to post and chat during the day and dont go to meets/rides
those that post loads and go to most meets events
others dont post much but are always at rideouts, meets events,
and others that do a bit of all

but i dont think its that big a deal…

I really enjoyed the mothers day ride out but it would have been a lot more fun in a posse.I m with Rioting Rob on this, i would have been right proud turning up in a gang representing London… Is it as simple as agreeing on meeting points northside, southside, eastside an westside for various ride outs. Obviously, The great Temple of Ace should be westside point, and for example - northside Alexandra Palace - Eastside Whipps Cross rd,a114 - Southside Shooters Hill Rd/Goffers Rd. Both east an south points have tea shack and plenty of parking…it would be great to unite for events suc as Wootton Bassett and there s plenty of bike tings going on over the summer, just a weeks notice, a meet point and an early time, is all it would take? or are we all too busy/ chaotic/ dissagreable for such a simple suggestion !!!:hehe::smiley:

+1 I’ll follow you anywhere chap

know what your saying rob.maybe if the mods were more into putting ther self forward for this type of thing… people would come on the runouts.

go on rob start up your own mc with colours and patches thats the only way you would get a mass gathering with a “leader” this is a forum where members meet up through choice your not forced like alot of motorcycle clubs. i dont and will never wear a patch or brand myself with one set club, forum, website etc id rather stay on the sidelines

Causing trouble again Rob?

Sunday was a one off that will never happen again. so I dont think you really have a valid point Rob.

I do unstand where you are coming from but, is that not what makes LB, LB!! If we all rode round together every weekend it would get very boring. I for one likes the way we do things, someone posts up a ride and we can all choose if we want to go on it or not:)

But if you do start up a patch club and you are the leader, I will join!!!:w00t::hehe:;)

whats the mods got to do with it?

All it takes is one person to take charge, as said.

why should everyone turn up togather for a big event? does ti really matter? if you wanna represent wear an LB hoodie…aint hard is it!

I know what you mean Rob, but as JC1001 said, it’s simply a matter of someone grasping the nettle and taking the leadership role. It’s not difficult to do, you just have to take the initiative and start organising it.

A good start in this instance would be to sell the idea, using a new thread, that it would be a very good thing for LB-ers to travel there en masse, and once you have established there is support, then you have yourself an interesting project with no doubt plenty of willing volunteers to help organise it and make it happen.

All it needs is that initial impetus and, as long you have support, things will happen

Dont lose sight of what i’m saying, it crossed my mind today that how many LB members went to this event and why didn’t we ride together? Now i know that there will be some who prefer to go in thier own little group.

But the question is how many would have liked to ride in a big group?

You just want one of them little leather vest things we saw !
