Leg 1 (Shuttle to Le Touquet) is 47 miles (77 from Maidstone, so top-up there everyone!).
Leg 2 (LeTouquet to Hesdin) is 35 miles
Leg 3 (Hesdin to the Shuttle) is 54 miles
Work out where you need to re-fuel, and only do it when you have to. Apart from Terry-Moto (and possibly Ginger) it looks like finding your own time to re-fuel in Le Touquet will be the answer. Terry will need a top-up in Hesdin for certain for the final leg, and can the re-fuel in Folkstone on the way home.
So a total (assuming no major detours) of 136 miles En France.
Bring euro cash for fuel and lunch.
I am planning on getting back to the Shuttle then bombing off to Adinkerke in Belgium for baccy/ciggie supplies.
If anyone needs the route in another format for their GPS, ask and I hope someone can convert for you.
This will be posted elsewhere.
Also the times for leaving will be
Leaving ace at 5am these times are leaving
Leaving box hill at 5.30 these times are leaving
Leaving maidstone at 7am (but have to be there by 6.30am for briefing)
well i should get 100 miles out of a tank, so i will leave ace with a full tank, top up to full again at maidstone, should only need to re-fuel once or maybe twice in france?
i’ve never done a trip this far and im crap at organizing anything! feel free to correct me!
well im running one tooth down on the front so will not get full coverage from my fueling…but i dont think it will be all that much as long distance riding uses less fuel…per mile…;).
im meeting aload of CBC riders at the services on the A20…the one with the mcdonalds…then its a strait blast down to maidstone…
gonna clean my leathers/boots/gloves/lid …and prep the bike…Oooo…this is exiting…:D…
I’m changing me rear sprocket (back to standard) tonight for the France trip, so I’ll be ok
Went to Fox’s on it yesterday and the droning from the engine and the top speed was something to larf at :ermm: The acceleration was mental though :hehe:
I will be carrying a gallon of fuel for emergencies but only for that! will also have euro TomTom very good for finding nearest gas station should you need it.
For those that do download the gps files, please check that your software/ unit routes the correct way. I found mine wanted to use different roads. added some extra waypints to get over the problem.
Can also help out with finding fuel stops if needed, dunno how good the Garmin Zumo database is and I hope we don’t need to test it, but the offer is there if you get in trouble and recognise my bike from the avitar
