Laptop For Video/Multimedia Use?

I’m looking to replace my ageing macbook and have no idea what to go for next.

I’ve recently bought an HD helmet camera and am trying my hand at video editing. The laptop is also used for general surfing, storing photo’s and music and other pretty straightforward stuff.

My current macbook is about 4-5 years old and has a 2Ghz Core2Duo processor, 2Gb RAm and a 60Gb harddrive. I’m looking for something with a bit more power but don’t know what to go for.
I was thinking about getting another mac but don’t really want to spend that amount of money.

Are Dell laptops any good?

If so, what model and kind of spec should I be looking for?

depending on how hardcore you want I would probably invest in a PC you will get much more for your money plues as time goes on you can change components eaily.

with regards to dell laptops yer they are good, generally pretty reliable. Would look at graphics cards and probably dual core at the very least (although I’d imagine they are mostly dual by now anyway)
