Knight and Day film and the fake "Ducati"

Theres something odd with the Ducati Hypermotard that Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz are sitting astride of in their new movie “Knight and Day.”

not seeing it??

take another look

it seems that they are actually using a Aprilia SXV550 in disguise.

the Hypermotard is too heavy and too fragile to pull off the stunts but the SXV is lighter, has longer travel suspension and is built specifically to take this kind of abuse.

from motobiker.org

question is why?
why not just use a ducati?

cause it would be able to do the stunts

Isn’t Diaz, like, 5’ 10" or something? And Cruise is only 4’ 3", but in the photo she looks tiny compared to him!

Conclusive proof it’s all CGI…

nah prob using a short model

In this pic Diaz looks like some kind of fake strap on woman designed to give the impression you have a girlfriend :w00t:

Definitely a dummy and not a real woman.

That photo has been photoshopped I reckon. Have a look at the lines onthe bodywork above the engine…and the focus on the forks…

Should get one for Ginger!

Is it meant to be a rip off of a Hypermotard 796?

Duc is 7.2k
and the Aprilia is 6.9k

Surely a film budget can push an extra 300£ to get a real Ducati?

EDIT - Only just looked at the pics in detail, i didnt notice the arrow points to where it says ‘Aprilia’ on the engine block…

Read the bottom of the post:

Single sided swingarm for a start:w00t:

btw now ducati say that the HMotard was used for the film!.. :ermm:

In the words of Mandy Rice Davies: ‘They would say that wouldn’t they’ .

great spot - how funny!

And looking closely you can see the alloy frame underneath the steel trellis.
