Knee Down

Am i leaning far enough over to get my knee down or is it my crappy body position?

I’d say it was down to rather small testicles judging by the size of those chicken strips ;)

sounds like you’re after a viewing old man:doze:

I doubt that very much Mr Snappy, you might like boys but i sure as hell don’t!!!

not really…need more lean…come out friday and we see!

Just be careful on the cold roads, traction aint what it used to be in the summer…

+1

defo gotta be carefull…

after talking to the essential rubber boys…i have been advised not to try KD on teh SV i have at the mo, tyres are shite…

so anyone wanna…ermm…‘let me have a go on thiers’:D:w00t:

What rubber yyou got on at the mo?? When i put my latest tyres on i had my knee down after a few minutes… Obviously if yyou are getting your knee ddown out of need (i.e. bolting round a bend so quickly the bike wont lean any more, so your helping it all you can with your weight)… then decent rubber is a must… but if you are just getting down on nice r’bouts etc… then go for it on yours… just hang offf loads…

Remember, stick in 3rd gear… arse completely off, hook the seat with the crook of your left knee… get the whole of your upper body over so your head is looking to the side of your screen… (“kiss your mirrors” - try and get to kiss your mirrors, it will stop you keeping your upper body to high/central)… and lastly get your right foot right up againt the kickplates… so the end of the peg is on the ball of your foot / tip toe area…

AND JUST KEEP LOOKING ALL THE WAY ROUND THE R’BOUT…

Have fun aand be careful… you’ll het there soon enough.

Iank

talking to me??

i have shitty OE tyres on teh courtsey SV…no way am i gonn KD on that…nope…dont fancy a hefty bill for binning it!

on my SV, i had pilot powers…KD is easy on them…

brand new tyres…KD in a few minutes?? are you serious??

GUYS PLEASE! DONT TRY THAT!

Yeah, pilot road 2’s and so did a friend of mine on the same tyres right out of the shop…

Haad pilot powers on… no offence - hated them… just like race tecks etc… all wear far too quicckly and unless you are on track then they get cold too quick.

And before you tell me you ride quick enough, its not a problem for you - my mate is an ACU racing lad, and he said no matter how much he guns it on the road, they are siply not made for it… afterall, you gonna jump every traffic light and avoid every traffic jam… this is a london forum isnt it!!! lol

Didnt realise it was a coutesy bike… i wouldnt want to bin it either… my point was you can easily get yopur knee down without leaning the bike that much at all… so much so thaat you can do it without carrying loads of speed on some not-so good tyres.

hmmmm i wouldnt try it straight outta the shop, its ummit i would liek to see tho…

my pilot powers were fine, felt very very good, warmed up enough for me, i was getting some crazy lean angles! they do wear quick tho…

yah unfortunetly it is…yeah KD is mainly about body poostion…if i can get some feeling from them and learn to trust them i might have a go on it. i get carried away tho…and lean lean lean! lol:D

i need a quiet round about and a couple minutes lesson;)

friday night kiddie! me and you and garret i think…

Not sure what your trying to prove with this statement, i ran Pilot Power Race and had no issues with getting heat into them on the road and i’m not an ACU racer, not that i see the relevance of that comment. It takes a different style of riding to be quick on the road opposed to riding on the track. The longer you ride the more you get used to a certain set of tyres. I for one am very anti Dunlop for example.

PJ, i wasnt trying to “achieve” anything with a statement… i was simply includig he is a v quick rider… else i know the first line of attack back will be - well your mate must be sslow, cos they’re fine for me…

I never said they took impossibly long to get heat into them… i agree you can warm them up quickly… i just hated how quickly they cooled down!!

I found they were great until you slowed down for a short while (say through town) and then found i had to hammer it to get them as hot agaain!!

Might just be me… i just find the pilot road 2 a better balance FOR ME… They are confidence inspiring. i dont worry too much about if they are in temp range the whole time i am riding - which i found myself doing before… Which is nice when you set off from town and know you have sticky rubber under you from the off.

All personal preference… the only thing i set out to “prove” was that body position is more importaant than rubber for learnig to get your knees dragging…but that doesnt mean i dont grant importance to having good tyres - afterall, like mentioned they give you feel and more ultimately grip - two essentials for riding.

knee down threads…classic.

a quick search and i found this:

If you want to to get the rest of the chicken strips off, warm day, good heat in your tyres, Tight corner, you dont need much speed. It should feel natural not forced. Counter steer into the corner, bum cheeky off with parallel body movement. Job done!

juat use photoshop thats what i do!!
