I dropped the bike this am - I am grumpy as F**KScuffed bar end ( £8 + Scuffed Clutch Slave cylinder £60 + scratched can (although the can is minor i think))
anyone know how hard it is to replace the clutch slave cylinder? given that it took me 40 mins of google to work out what it was.
Clutch slave cylinder is just a hydraulic actuated piston, bit like a brake calliper.Unbolt the damaged slave cylinder from it’s location.
Undo the bleed bolt on the cylinder and get rid of the fluid in a container - it’s brake fluid so make sure you don’t get any on the bikes paintwork.
Detach the slave cylinder from the hose (bolt going through banjo).
Attach new cylinder to banjo hose (with new washers) and fill up system at master resevoir with brake fluid - usually dot 4.
Bleed system to remove air to bring up to proper hydraulic pressure as you would if you were changing the fluid on your brakes.Personally if it’s just scuffed I would keep it on there - sods law says it might happen again next month when you slip on diesel or something (hope not but you know how it goes). On the other hand Is your bike fitted with crash bungs? That might save the new cylinder from damage next time.
Thanks for that I really apreciate you’re help.
I will let you know how i get on…
No worries - just get all the bits you need in place - plus do a bit of research on exactly what you’ve got to do and start on a saturday morning when there’s no pressure to get it all done for work the next day - take your time - it’s not difficult.
if you havent yet i’d upgrade from the little BMW crash bungs

supprisingly enough - they are on the little parts list i am currently drawing up.

How bad is the damage to the slave cylinder? Have you considered a cosmetic repair?
What, something like lip salve?
Or were you thinking more along the lines of liposuction?
