…and what an amazing bike! First big bike after passing DAS on Monday, and boy I’m so ****ing happy with it!
About 7 years old, 30000 on the clock but feels in better condition than the year old CBF125 I traded in for it
What do you lot think?

Good choice - they are great bikes.
Looks really tasty in black especially with the black frame, being a twin they also sound great.
Congratulations on passing.
One tip - fit a fender extender onto the front mudguard - the angle the plug on the front cylinder sits at means it can be exposed to water spray if you ever use it in wet weather.
Oh yes I was reading about this a few days ago, good idea!
My favourite colour. Get that bazooka (had a similar one with my bandit) replaced with a proper silencer. But even before you do that, purchase and install some crash bobbins asap. Especially since it’s such a clean bike, and it’s your first. Trust the experience of hundreds of others (myself included) who delayed it for far too long and payed dearly :Wow:
Fix the fender extender to the mudguard with some of this plastic weld - saves you having to piss about with the screws.

congrats with purchase! Good choice. SV650 is my first big bike as well
I was thinking of doing this Slacker but not sure which ones to get?
Do I need to get some specifically for the SV650 or is it a case of any will do?
I would definitely get ones specifically for your bike, since the bobbins come with a kit to fit your particular bike and are usually measured to protect your fairings, parts etc, which stick out somewhat differently on different bikes.
R&G bobbins are quite popular and regarded as good quality, but also rather expensive. Some argue that rubber is rubber, so bobbins from any other company that you can get at half price are just as good. I myself have R&G, but like I said, installed them a bit too late and didn’t have a chance to test them out ever since, so can’t comment.
Here’s the site for R&G, you can choose your bike and it will show you the bobbins you need and even instructions to fit them. Of course, you are free to buy them from fleabay instead or any other retailer that sells them cheaper, just make sure they mention your bike.

I’ve got those http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370507355396
Twice cheaper than R&G ones.
Also a link for fenda extenda http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-SV650-SV1000-2003-Extenda-Fenda-Fender-Extender-05020-/201088085628?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item2ed1c8ae7c
Never underestimate the power and fun of the SV
Enjoy it and look after it, keep an eye on the oil level every 5-600 miles nothing serious but if it does use some due to the mileage it could end in tears and possibly a new engine. Not trying to scare you but it has happened and it’s not a nice feeling.
