I finally made up my ever changing mind and decided to do my DAS - hunted round and found out I wouldn’t get it done before the new test came in (there was one date but I couldn’t get the time off work).
So I thought a bit more and decided that because I’ve only just started riding (and I don’t hold a car license either) my dream of getting a Street Triple probably isn’t realistic, simply from an insurance point of view until I’ve got at least a couple of years no claims, so…
I thought sod it - I’ve might not have had any test training, but I’ve got 3,000 miles experience in all conditions and a sensible head and have done a lot of reading, both on here and official DSA material, I’m just gonna do my A2, do my year on my 125cc (subject to change - watch this space :D), get a hack for a year, either a 400cc or a restricted, then my license will be mature anyways and I can see what a street triple will cost me
Just had a look and the only - I mean the only date left was at 10:15 tomorrow morning in Gillingham, so I sidled up to my boss - got a yes, booked it and off I go - hopefully ‘L’ free tomoz, or if not, at least a whole heap wiser
Hehe… No - life’s too short and I’ve wasted enough years already
Cheers for the tip - I’ve got me a mental checklist and have been riding in practice for the test for a few weeks now, on and off - including keeping to the speed limit (which does nothing except make me smile as I see the cagers lining up behind me :D).
Have you tried getting an insurance quote for the triple?? Cos i thought that when i did my DAS last year, but ended up being able to get a zx9r (…i know… a little suicidal!) for a little over £400 tpf&t. I’ve been driving for a fair while now though, so not sure if that had anything to do with it, but it was still zero no claims…!? May be worth checking??
Yeah - as a new rider, I wouldn’t feel comfortable not having fully comp and the cheapest I could get at the moment was £1100!Cheers - will let y’all know how it goes
My A2 Re-Test is also Tomorrow at 12.38pm at Chingford Test Centre (odd time)
Thing is im really nervous about mine as I rode around the area on Monday, and by reading posts up on here found one of the roads they make you do a u-turn on …it was narrow, bumpy and on a uphill slope - tried a few u-turns and couldnt do em at all (ok i manged 2 out of 10 say) So im gona fail :crying:
Anyway 3000miles - you’ll do well be condifent!!! and pass im sure!
Cheers Dev - hehe - I went out and practiced my u-turns on Sunday - I failed 4 out of 50 - I had to stop and rest 3 times because my wrist couldn’t take the continuous clutch use
Good luck to you too fella - let us know how it goes
Good luck Stevie - remember your life savers - good to hear that you’ve been practising your u-turns thoroughly - I did similar to perfect mine and passed. ;)
