Isn't Valentines day just for single people?

I see a lot of people going on about Valentine’s day who are already in a relationship - but isn’t it supposed to be a day reserved for single people to declare their secret love for an admired one? :blink:

Although these days that probably sounds creepy and tantamount to stalking/harassment. :smiley:

Since when did couples hijack this special day that used to belong to all us sad single bastards? :w00t::smiley:

I thought valentines day was a day when you have to celebrate with your partner, otherwise they will get upset that your dont love them and are not romantic? :smiley:

I am sure there are loads of singles on this forum, why don’t you advertise for a Valentine’s date and you could meet someone & have a great time! (Just a suggestion:))

It’s all commercial and about money making now. Look at how the price of flowers and restaurants rise this weekend! And I’m not bitter either, lol.

I still get my wife a card each year and try and take her out for something to eat. Trouble is she’s not really interested in coming to the Ace for a burger and a coffee:w00t: I do offer to take her on the bike but seeing as she has not been on the back for about 12 years she never seems excited about the whole experience…:wink:

Valentines day is an excuse for a young lad to buy something nice for his girlfriend and to get a leg over.
I`ve been married too long to worry about valentines day.

I thought Valentines Day was for both singles and couples, singles to make secret declarations in cards etc, and couples for romantic nights out / in together :slight_smile: I remember when I worked in the UK I sent a few ‘secret valentines’ cards to single people at work who were generally somewhat unhappy, just to cheer them up and put a smile on their faces. It worked!!

Re being single, I hadn’t met anyone I really liked for absolutely ages, was quite happy being single too and then, in Afghanistan just before Christmas, was in this secret bar in a bunker having a drink, and this guy walked in and that was it. We hit it off immediately and get on like a house on fire. So, it can happen to anyone - could meet your future partner in Sainsburys, a pal of mine met her husband in the queue at the petrol station.

There is someone out there for everyone I reckon
