Is this a good idea?

I have seen a track bike for sale. The owner says it has a v5 and can be used in the daytime only. I was wondering if bike that have been used on the track is suitable for use on the road. Or will the engine be naked etc. what do you think?

Depends on the bike, daytime only means it’s not got any lights and daytime only MoT.

if the loom is still intact you could fitt lights into the fairing and get a full mot, some track bikes use a track loom though so the wiring for lights, break light sensors etc wont be there. worth asking about that. engine wont nessecarily be knackard as alot of track bikes are well looked after and maintained

OK I’ll have to ask about the wiring loom…Thanks for the reply. Much appreciated.

Here is the link to the bike:-

The auction has ended but I am still in correspondence with him so I will ask about the wiring loom.

As MO said a track bike is better looked after than alot of road bikes as the oil is changed more regular and theyre checked thoughrouly before each use, miring generally isnt cut about too much just taped back, theyre pretty easy to put back on the raod aslong as theres no history of crashes etc

Think ive seen that bike out and about… its based where my missus is from. If its the one i think it is, its nr Eaglescliffe and is a stunning bike. Be interesting to know.
