Just had a call from my insurance company asking me to call a DC from Scotland Yard in connection with my bike.
I called the guy who has advised me they need to check my bike to make sure it’s not stolen! They’ve raided some bike shops that trade in stolen bikes and my registration has been found in the records. It may have just been to that shop for a service or it could be one of the stolen bikes.
I did a full HPi check when I bought the bike and it came up clean. I’ve spoke to the guy I bought it from he is convinced it’s not a stolen bike, he bought it rom a shop in Surry. Not sure if that’s one of the shops that got raided. I’m going to see the copper on Monday but until then I can’t ride my bike as i may not be insured
As a member of the general public you should be able to refer to the HPI company you used (did you get a certificate of print out as proof) they are insured for this kind of thing and you can claim against them.
if its a proper hpi check and you did a full check they will cover you if it turns out their information was incorrect…but you’re right to read the small print, make sure theres no funny loop holes!
Hun i have done the best i can to help you in finding out whether it is or not a stolen bike, i hope its not a stolen bike, ill keep my fingers crossed for you hun,
Yeah, you should be eligible for some compensation from HPI if it turns out to be a bent bike, but like someone else said, this is on the premise that you completed all the sections they ask for.
to be honest after speaking to another person and sherrie, i dont think it will be sorted out soon…im not going to say anymore as this is not my place to say but all i know is i’ll be crossing my fingers for her
bad to hear this. HPI’s are meant to give confidence in purchasing a bike/car and proving it to be of good providence. I hope this gets cleared up quickly.
