is mine the most unreliable honda ever?!?!

ok, same old story, different chapter.
My bike wont start, the batteries fine, the fuels fine, the starter motor runs perfect and sounds normal.
I had my service less then 500 miles ago. and everything was fine i know my spark plugs were checked but cnt remember if replaced with new.
I try and start the bike and just nothing happens (choke or no choke). I have noticed from trying to push start the bike that when walking it in gear and with the clutch in i am feeling alot more resistance then when walking it in neutral, is this normal? ive never noticed it before.
My bike sometimes has difficulty starting in the cold, but usually just turn on the choke and within 3 tries max its going. My thermometer is reading off the chart with cold.
Any ideas?
thanks guys

to be honest mate i dont know whats up…i know cbr125s hate the cold and are a bugger to start on a cold morning lol…maybe your choke is damaged?

why not find your nearest Honda Motorcycles dealer, give them a ring and you never know, they might be able to give diagnostics over the phone;)

You do possibly have the most unreliable honda ever! My friends CBR125 ticked over 40k miles before it gave up!

I have used one and seen it cover a fair few thousand miles. Brighton burn up, Peterborough show. But it was borrowed off the gf so shes probably serviced it properly.
All of the other hondas including the most recent CBR600F have worked effortlessly so its odd yours is doing this.

If you are starting it and nothing is happening I would say spark or fuel but if they are both DEFINATELY working and I would check first then you have to move on to more serious things. It could be the timing or the C.D.I unit. But these would be hard pushed to fail. It could be defective electrics. Being a honda this is usually unlikely as ive only seen these problems on a battered bike.

Have it checked out though by a proper mechanic. Get a Haynes manual as well and learn the bike with the troubleshooting. Also that resistance you are feeling when you push the bike in 1st with the clutch out is your engine. It always does it, just youve usually got power going through it. Neutral disengages the engine so basically you are pushing the engine through its usual processes just very slowly.

Heres something to try. Turn on the ignition. Put it into 2nd (not 1st) 3rd if needs be and pull the clutch. Get on the bike and push it quickly and get it above 5mph. The closer to 10mph the better. Let the clutch out suddenly and snap it back in and keep trying it. It should fire with the choke on. If it doesnt you have serious problems.

regulator rectifier could have broken…that can give those symtoms

but im not a trained mechanic so get a second opinion

before you put it in the shop silly i know but pull the petrol pipe off and turn the petrol tap on the tap might be blocked hopefully otherwise it may well be eletrical plugs condenser

take out a plug put the plug lead on hold against the engine see what colour the spark is if there is one good luck

ps another silly thing check the cut out switch

That could be the reason as well. Maybe kill switch do not work properly.

side stand interlock, clutch lever interlock switch, kill switch, wiring joints between the three, probably the favourite suspects if its an intermittent fault, try the cheap stuff firt then work your way up.

you can by pass the cluch switch by jioning one were abouts are you its better if someone that knows abit

is the starter turning over if so its not the clutch switch.is it just getting damp in the cold if so spray the leads with wd40 have u got water in the tank drain some and look…the bike will have more resisdance when in gear even with the clutch in as more parts r turning.hope this helps
