Is it just me or is this thread totally insane?

Regular training teaches you instinct, and those times you need it instinct takes over, it also shows you how to take a beating without taking too much damage, but violence seems to have become more serious lately.

Suppose there is no real way to deal with it without risk of harm. Especially when these fuckers hunt in packs.

Dude, I don’t think its because your big and box that attracts problems in Maidstone and Gillingham, probably more racially motivated?

nah i can honestly say that on a night out i’ve been called a big c**t many a time but never been called a black one…

+1 on its a dubious idea to carry to be honest. have done some weapons fighting, and unless you know what you’re doing (and even if you do to an extent) you’re quite likely to get disarmed before you’ve done enough to stop them. then the situ is likely to deteriorate rapidlyodds are if they’re out to mug/assault people, they are far more used to the situation, and often they just dont give a sh*t about the consequences (which again puts most of us at a disadvantage)

also if you’re not used to fighting, you dont react how you think you will. (for the record i have been attacked when i was younger). I’ve done a fair bit of martial arts and used to be an instructor for a while, but even so i’d be seriously wary of getting into street fights, tooled up or not. they’re just too unpredictable

oh, and make mine a glock, they still fire after being unwater - ideal for england at the mo!

ok, bout 27 years ago, went to Nottinghill Carnival, picked the wrong year to go unfortunately, crowd fights galore !!! Spent most of our time trying to hide anywhere we could to avoid missiles or getting into a fight with someone who just fancied it…i got seperated from friends, tried going to the tube to go home again, on the way got mugged by 4 guys, who punched and tried to pull my purse from my hand, i fought back, (all on my ownsome), cos i saw a copper on other side of the road watching, and thought he would come over…WRONG !!! i ended up with a sore gut from being punched, and left on the floor with no money…Copper came over when they had gone…said hes sorry but they had been told not to intervene as there were too many of them to police !! Effing unreal! Had to make my way to train station, leaving my name and address for them to send me receipt to pay later when i got home…When i got home, my exhusband who was (IS) a women beater, punched me in the face and gave me a black eye, for going out with my mates !!!

Some months ago, i was at my local chinese, just getting something quick to eat, bottom line, gang of teenagers on drugs, led by a GIRL, followed me home, shouting abuse and the like, telling me they were going to “pop a cap in my head”, all cos i asked them to move out of the way from the queue as i wanted to order and only one of them had ordered something but they all came into the shop to shout and let us all know who had had sex over the park the night before, and had already been asked to wait outside…that girl, called her dad who then turned up at my home, after they had followed me, who then knocked on my door and said " i understand you have a problem with my daughter"…DOH !! he kept his hand in his pocket all the time and we were waiting for him to do something…his “daughter” shouting abuse, smoking a cigarette etc behind his back…(shes 14 and ive known her mother since she was born, something i pointed out to her to which she said she dont give a ****!!)…anyway, more kids turned up so that now we had a crowd outside, someone had called the police…to which the dad turned, gave some kid what was in his pocket, then turned back and started waving both arms about now…he said he was told i had hit his daughter…i said if i had hit her she wouldnt be standing where she was now…then he said i cant threaten his daughter !! i said if he or her think that was a threat i felt sorry for them, but if they wanted i would comply and threaten her, and told them that i could press charges for harrassment as his daughter and co had followed ME home and not the other way round…he then stopped waving his arms about, and the police told him that they know who they are and where they live and if anyone comes back to my home when they have gone, they will nick him and his daughter…They then were told to go, and the daughter then shouted, “this is not over im going to get someone, im going to do something” and the police then told her again, if shes found or if anything happens to our place, they will nick her AND her dad…weve heard nothing since, but same girl and friends caused same trouble in local pizza shop weeks after…police have been around the area since and the kids have been moved on…only after so many complaints from shopkeepers and shoppers alike though…The girls mother says shes so sorry for what her daughers doing but she got in with the “wrong crowd”!!! (SHE was the crowd mate!!!), how she smokes weed, has fights at school and has been kept in so many times but goes back to the same crowd on being allowed out again…this girl is 14.

Ive had someone try to get into my car, luckily i didnt wind down the window low enough…so yeh, now i DO make sure i have something on me and yeh i WILL use it, anytime, anyhow and anyway…if its me or them, its gonna be THEM !! I work hard for my living, i pay my taxes, i dont steal from no effer, i dont busy myself with anyone, and im effed if im going to let any of these no good scum bags even THINK they are going to get away with my things without getting a jook first, if i have to bleed then so will they !!

Damn blade! That’s a nasty story. I hope nothing else like that happens to you!

No matter how docile and separate we might make ourselves, trouble just seems to come our way!

I have been held up at gun point twice and kidnapped once, but that was in Brazil.
For a long time afterwards those things kept me awake at night thinking what I could or should have done (or not), but in the end, I realise that there might not have been anything I could have done to avoid them and that I am still here in one piece.
Yes, I wanted to kill the fkrs that did it, but don’t really feel that way now, discrete amputation would suffice

i dont stand for bullying. Never have and never will. Yeah it’s landed me in some scuffles but i usually end out ok. But thats one on one or me against a couple of nobbers on a friday night.

At the end of the day if 5 guys wanna pick a fight there is very little you are going to do to difuse the situation. They are going to want a fight.
If someone has a weapon in your face you can guarentee they are ready to use it. So best thing to do is put it down to a loss that day and move on. Unless they are trying to take your life then anything is game.
Ive been trained in Wing Chun and also how to use weapons but i wouldnt fancy my chances against a hardened street criminal with a weapon in your face fully prepared to take you down for the contents of your pockets. At the end of the day is the £20 - £100 cash you are carrying worth your life?

Well, here’s my pennies worth…

After reading this entire thread, I’d like to make the following points.

  1. If you are ever in a situation where you feel threatened, walk away. Chances are, you will feel a stab to your pride, but nothing else.

  2. If you carry a weapon (of any sort), make sure you are aware of the consequences of your actions. If you are caught carrying a concealed weapon, you could go to prison or at the very least end up with a criminal record! Then, you are just part of the problem, not the answer! Also, if you take a weapon into a situation, it may be used against you. It also seriously decreases your options in a fight scenario, because if you pull out a knife/ kubotan/gun you have got no other option than to use it! You can’t escelate a situation to that point, and then put the weapon away again! You have sunk to the thug’s mentality!

  3. If you are the sort of person who feels intimidated whilst out alone, day or night, take some self defence lessons. At the very least, you will learn to defend yourself and become more confident in your abilities. At worst, you will end up with some bruises and aches, and a few funny stories to tell your mates.

I am by no means some sort of rambo. I am 5’11" tall, weigh 16.5 stone and work as a Close Protection Officer. I will walk away from 99% of conflict situations, and it doesn’t make me a wimp to do so. I will back down from a 5’2" scrawney kid, if it means I don’t have to get blood on my hands. I look like I eat babies, but my friends see me as one of the most placid people they know. On the other hand, I’m no softy when it comes to the crunch. I worked on some of the roughest pubs and clubs in east london for over a year, places where I was guarenteed to be in a ruck at least 3 or 4 times per night. I’ve been stabbed, shot at and blown up over the last ten years, and even now I would rather walk away from some little yob gang who are trying to make a name for themselves. It’s called common sense and survival instinct. I know what I’m capable of, and what my limits are.

How about we all get together and those of us who have the skills and techniques mentioned on this thread, can teach some of those who would like to learn? I’m not talking about teaching any specific martial arts, just passing on some knowledge that may help someone if the are attacked etc… I teach my friends in the same way, even though we live in a relatively quiet part of london.

PM me if you are interested.

I think carrying a weapon is double-dangerous. You could be arming a previously unarmed attacker who, provoked by the very fact you had the front to threatened him with a weapon, could disarm you and use it against you.

I’ve lived in Leeds, Nottingham and now the East End!! I’ve seen most things and have had most things happen to me:

I’ve had a gun held at my temple for just “looking”. Managed to safely diffuse the situation with lots and lots of bullshit, eye contact and diversion tactics. Normally I would walk away but seeing as I cant out run a bullit I figured my only choice was to deal with it there and then.

When I think of how oblivious I was to the dangers - getting into scraps, walking away the victor but then having to deal with a broken nose and a chipped tooth…and for waht? When you’re young you’re just too busy proving yourself and trying not to lose face.

Now I’m older and wiser and just let the yobs get on with killing each other. I’ll take the dent in pride for the sake of not getting a heart attack due to getting into one of my rages!

Far from feeling theatened I am GENUINELY scared of what might happen to me AFTER the event. People are capable of scary things when provoked that you wouldnt think them capable of. I know that if I defend myself and end up twatting the little shite, chances are he’ll hit the pavement so hard that the fall will kill him - then who’s the one going to prison?

Im not taking any chances in this country - CCTV EVERYWHERE! besides, I’ve never been abused as a child, i’m educated and probably considered middle-class so I have everything going against me in court.

I have been involved on all sides, if you carry a weapon and get into a situation your going to use it.

I had a mate who knew some of his old friends were after him, and carried two knives with him just in case, about 9 or more guys came for him and beat him quite badly with weapons, however during the fight he managed to stab one to death.

Due to the circumstances he was let off with community service, however everyone in the area blamed him for the persons death, his home was attacked, his cousin was shot in the stomach, someone tried to kidnap him, and someone tried to murder his brother, who managed to get away.

Another situation…

A situation I was in, was when a group of about 15-20 guys who had at least 5 guns held myself and 2 friends hostage at gunpoint at a house party.

They attempted to rob me and my friends, however I kind of knew one of the guys and managed to talk my way out of it, however he said as he did not know my friends, they would have to get robbed.

They didnt find much on my friends, apart from one who had his bank cards on him, so they said they were going to take him to the bank and let him go after they got his money, they left me in the house party, and the guy i knew said he would look after my friend, although he was not the main guy charge, but was quite high in the rankings as he was one of the gun carriers.

Anyway, I was in a dilemma, do i follow them? Do I call someone to spring him?

I decided on the latter, so I thought I could call his cousins, they have access to guns, but it was like 3am and they lived in another area, how long would it take them to get some people together and all come down?

So I called the police first, my mate said while they were walking to the ATM, the guys kept pointing the guns at his head, and he was really intimidated and thought he was going to die, but by the time they had got to the bottom of the road, there were marked and unmarked police cars waiting, which upon seeing the gang ran away and left him.

I spoke to the guy from the gang a couple of weeks afterwards, he came up to me to ask if my mates were going to press charges, I told him no, we were going to leave it at that, to which he replied cool, they wont take it further themselves.

Anyway a few months passed and my mate who was taken to go to the cashpoint, was with some of his older cousins, and came across the main gang leader, it just happened that the gang leader was one of his cousins workers selling drugs, well when his cousin found out the story, the gang leader got beaten pretty badly.

Then after that, the same gang killed somebody at a music concert, for something minor and most of them are in prison now.

Another situation…

I was involved in an attack and robbery, what happened was one of my mates was set up by someone who sold drugs for him to be shot by an enemy, he arranged to meet my mate somewhere, but when he was driven into the meeting place, one of his enemies was waiting to shoot him, however when the guy shot him, the bullet went through the car window, hit him, grazed him a little but did not penetrate “home made bullets” then the gun jammed, so he got away.

Anyway, we spent about 2 weeks looking for the guy who set him up to get revenge, and some of they guys we were with were armed, we found out he was living in a hotel, and some guys broke in with guns, but he wasnt there, so they stole all his stuff from the hotel.

Afterwards, when they had given up looking for him, we came across him, we were in two cars and followed him to an area, where he parked up, the lead car, blocked his exit and everyone jumped out, and tried to get him out of the car, he had locked his doors and was refusing to get out, but someone used their belt to break the drivers window and he was dragged out, but he pulled out a knife and slashed one of the guys and ran away.

So someone jumped into his car and we drove to a car park, his car got smashed up and totally destroyed, and his keys were thrown into a forest, he did deserve it though…

Anyway thats all in my past now, and is only a small selection of stories.

I will be writing a book soon :woot:

blimey.

remind me not to go to any parties where you’re at

Its the reason I left West London, but Kents too quiet lol

crikey guys, this site never ever ceases to amaze me…the life that is within all the members is simply fantastic…it is without any doubt the broadest most complete view of the Uk population I have ever seen…

if i can add just one real important note to those who are not out to cause trouble…if you are attacekd and you have a hammer in your vehicle for the sole purpose of defence and you harm someone it is considered as a weapon and this means you are in real trouble…I know not as much trouble if your speeding or caught in a bus lane but trouble all the same…

I think you are all great in your own ways…

Blimey!! Let us know when you write the book Goose, I wanna read it!

Eye opening thread. I’ve been lucky to date - and have never known or spent time with anyone violent in my life. I

got attacked once when I was at school - a guy tried to run over my then girlfriend as we were crossing a road on our way to classes (it was a datsun I recall) - so I gave him the finger. He reversed up the road, got out, came up to me and started having a go. As he came towards me, shell suited and string-vested, with his mate in tow, I remember knowing by looking at him that he was going to attack me. So I took of my school uniform jacket, gave it to my girlfriend and waited. He started calling me f-ing this and that and then swung at me. The next thing I remember I had him in a headlock (I’m not a small guy) and was seeing red - the first and only complete red mist of my life - I was calling him a f-ing c**t etc and was dragging him towards a wall with every intention of banging his head into it as hard as I could - not thinking, just pure anger. Halfway to the wall I stopped and the red mist went and I didn’t know what to do. I had this struggling guy in a headlock and I was lost for ideas. I remember initially as he hit me thinking, well he’s hit me now so school rules mean I’m allowed to defend myself, but then halfway to the wall I was thinking how is this going to end? What if I actually have to knock the senses out of this guy to make him stop? So I tapped him on the top of his head with my knuckles and let go. He stood up and looked at me, said something more about f-ing something. I said something ridiculous, like “Well I’m going to chemistry, do you mind if I get my books?” (my girlfriend was holding the books) - he said “F off big boy or I’ll stab you” - so I effed off. As the guy was walking back to his car (I didn’t see this bit) he just punched another mate of mine, also on his way to the same lesson, in the face and then drove off.

I’ve lived in some dodgy areas, but so far have been pretty lucky. Keep myself to myself mostly and just try to avoid making eye contact with the loser types who are always looking for some trouble or other.

Goose - did moving away work for you? Have you stayed out of and away from that sort of trouble? Do you miss that lifestyle at all?

Blade - what’s your situation like now with this girl? Would you consider moving to get away from it?

The variation in life experiences is huge - and as someone above said, this site seems to cover a surprisingly huge spread of people, which is cool. Brought together electronically at least, by the joy of two wheels and an engine.

Nope, im not going to move because of her, or anyone like her…if i wanted to move, then of course i would but because WE want to …i remember one time when i had my first home, it was in a flat? a friend of ours came knocking on the door one day…when i opened it, there was about 7 of them and they all piled into my home…they were there about 10 mins if that, and then they all piled out again…fine…then my front door was smashed in and my home was filled with police !! Apparently my “friend” had been followed by them and they ran into my building to get away, then came to my door …where they stashed what they had in their pockets…unknown to me !! Anyways, thank god the ol bill knew what they had on them and i just had to make a statement and wasnt arrested…there was me and my little girl alone…and the police knew what they had done…but it didnt make me want to move away either…another time I was in a dance having a good time, and went to go to the loo, as i walked past a group of guys, i saw them drag a guy outside…me being me, i went and had a look…they began beating this guy all over the place and one of them stabbed him to death…i was too scared to move and just stood there…the guy with the knife, walked back inside and had to go past me…he looked at me for what seemed ages, looked at the knife, then back at me…then threw the knife over the wall and went inside after pointing to his eyes and then mine…but it didnt stop me going there again…i saw the guy a few times after that and he always pointed to his eyes and then me, and nothing was said between us…he knew and i knew…that was so many years ago now…i couldnt even tell you what happened to him …he could be dead. And…my son was having a drink with his mates, one of them got a bit drunk and said something some guy didnt like, they started having a go at each other, and it was getting a bit out of hand, so my son stepped in for his mate and tried to calm it down…the guy who was having a go, went out and got in his car…and waited outside, when my son came out with his mate, this guy wound down his window and pointed a gun at him and said “so you want to get involved now do you?”…luckily others there pulled him back inside and someone who knew the guy with the gun, talked him out of it…or i would be without a son now…now THAT made me think about this area yeh…i dont want to outlive my kids…way it goes, you have to die before your kids…theres other incidents …but like goose i think i will write a book !!
