Intro to the HP4

caution: contains marketing BS:

Wow! Advertising ANGLED INFLATING VALVES!! :w00t:
Never would have thought a £10k+ bike would have that technology on it… Unlike my £2k budget bike which has had them for years

That electronic suspensions sounds pretty cool though, how the damping stiffens up as you straighten the bike up out of a corner but stays soft for the lean

Very clever stuff but I don’t think I’d want such complexity if the bike was to be used on the road.

I’d worry about the service life of all that kit.

As a pure track bike (which is mainly it’s intended purpose) that kit would be phenominal

Yeah same with cars - all the tech is great if you are buying new but it’s just more expensive sh1t to sort out and fix for people who are gonna pick it up down the line.

Just like they said in the 70`s.

And they were right - as vehicles become more complex they become harder to fix for an amateur mechanic - kind of stands to reason no?

Just read Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance.

I have - f*ck all use that was

Read it again with sympathy, age and wisdom.

I’d like to see 70’s Zen man fix the HP4’s onboard computer with his lathe and bespoke set of spanners.

He’d probably lose his cool and end up smashing the thing to pieces . . .

Yeah I know, there are barely any bikes now being made with carbs, ABS is becoming compulsory, traction control, engine management systems… In 20 years time I’ll still be working on and riding bikes from the 90s the way things are going!

Yeah - either that or we’ll have to work out a way of stripping out and bypassing all the electronic guff and pare it back down to the essentials.

Indeed. That is, if EU law allows us to modify our bikes.

By that time anyway there will be several bridges built across the Channel and we’ll all be speaking a mixture of French and German… Well according to the Daily Mail anyway

Will we still be allowed to apply the stickers the way we want?

:doze:

No. We’ll also need to apply for a permit if we want to change the angle of our brake and clutch levers.
