insurance help needed

right had a rta 3 weeks ago car door opened on me, had my operation last monday got another 5 weeks off of work.

my problem is my witnesses are being super slow my bike is still waiting to be looked over but its all at a standstill and my insurance is due the end of june.

do i:

  • not insure it and keep getting public transport
  • insure it with someone else
  • get another bike

I’d say if you want to keep your insurers sweet then you’ll renew with them. See if they can reduce the rate seeing as it’s off the road?

these things can take time mate, prob be best to give them a call and see about re-insuring it, but if its a write off, wich is very possible, why would you insure it!?

give you insurance company a call, also chase em up on things!

If you can make it roadlegal (document what you have done to it very well) you can insure it again with any insurance company but you will loose your NCB and it will go down as a fault accident, until the case is settled. Once your case is settled and if you are found not to be in fault they will repay you the extra.

I wouldn’t count on taking public transport until it’s settled, it could take months (18 so far in my case, and no sign of a resolution any time soon). When you get insurance (on any bike, existing or new), you’ll probably best get 2 quotes so you know how much you would get back if you get your NCB back. Just make sure everything you do is well documented.

The whole insurance system is an absolute nightmare.

got to be careful as most people these day assume that bikes will be written off lik that.

when I had my accident, there was £800 of damage on a £850 bike but as it was road worthy they still paid out.

Shiver,

I re-insured mine with someone else whilst my claim was going through mate did not cause me any problems what so ever (obvisouly I was still riding around on mine though not sure about your siutation regaurding damage)…

My SV only had panel damage no frame or swingarm marks, it was valued at £3200, and it was wrote off…

if you get awkward with the insurance company or rejegct first offers it stand to reason yoiu will be waiting a long time, or if theres a dipute between whos at fault.

my bike was assesed, claim put through and paid outwithin about 4-5weeks.

think about it dude, do you really want that bike back after its been dinged…i know i fugging wouldnt!

well being that my hand is still a mess im not sure what to do about it.

insurance company are pants they said of your damage is not covered as its 3rd party f+t so its being sorted by rss

my bike is now rideable just looks a mess

nah i dont want it back im sick of this now its been 3 weeks and ive just got a feeling this is going to take a looong time which is too long to not be riding

ah see i was and still am fully comp.

keep on RSS case see what they can do, because you were injured too it may take time mate, sod thet bike get it wrote off, get paid out get a new one!

be patient, besides you aint going anywhere:D
