you sound as though you would be suited in a playground rather than someone who apparently has half a brain cell…
as a manager of one of the branches i can assure you that closure is not on the cards,
so hey how fantastic… you will be able to stay in competition with us although with your obvious lack of personality it will not be so much of a competition…
the best piece of advice that maybe i could give… is basically grow up and get a life…

Hiya Kerry, welcome to LB And dont forget you still owe me a tenner and has your hands got any warmer ? :D:)
Thanks for your kind words Kerry. At least you have credited me with a half a brain cell more that I actually have!!.. getting a life and growing up has never really been a priority for me.
Welcome to London Bikers. I’ll have a pint of Shandy!:hehe:
Play nice, peeps! Why don’t we just wait and see what gives, eh? Then whoever wants to can say “I told you so!” and feel very self-satisfied after the event (whatever that may be)
unfortunately… rumours can be very damaging as in my experience they spread like wild fire and can cause upset, pop in over the weekend and i’ll shout you a coffee…

The tenner was for courier discount on some body armour, that you helped me try on ;):)
I e-mailed infinity enquiring about availability for a crash helmet and this is the reply i got back
“Thanks for your enquiry. I can confirm that we still have the helmet in the size you require. At the moment the company is in the process of changing ownership so neither ourselves or any of the other Infinity stores are in a position to trade, this we anticipate will only be for this week. We should be open for business as usual by Monday 22nd, so please feel free to contact us after then and we will be happy to help.”
Please note that this is only speculation as I have no special knowlege of the business concerned, but do know something about insolvency, the responsibilities of directors, and rescue.
The fact that they are not trading at the moment suggests the business is being rescued from insolvency. A business would not normally stop trading just because it was being bought unless insolvency was an issue as selling the shops whilst they are still trading would be worth far more o nthe open market. However, trading whilst insolvent is a criminal offence for the directors so if they are in the position of not being able to pay bills as they fall due they have to stop trading pending rescue, restructuring or refinancing.
likely every company in the Uk is insolvent under the Uk terms for insolvency…I run a few companies and they are all insolvent on that legal phraseology.Likely the shops have ceased trading to ensure that creditors are aware and that no one forecloses on them, or demands return of stock. They will be negotiating with creditros and trying to keep everyones good will. Sadly some will not be in a position to do that.
With a lot of luck they will survive…
we dont want to lose dealers…and more bikes have been sold this year than last year…so that cant be the reason…high costs, wages and other factors soon cause problems if not managed carefully. The worst is management that dont manage and dont add real value…very expensive…
I live in Clapham and on Monday went to the Clapham Store to pick up some parts that are on order… there is a note on the door saying due to some installation etc…the store will reopen on Thurday 18th…
Sad but true, more are being sold but there is almost no money if anything at all in selling new bikes, and the bigger the dealership, then the more debt they carry with them. The whole business is now built on escalating debt and financing, until the cash runs out and the doors close, or the owners say enough and declare voluntary insolvency and protection.
I do hope this is a blip and Infinity finds a buyer, for the sake of all who work there. But with the negative profits that are in the business for dealers at the moment, you would have to be either very brave or stupid to invest large amounts of cash to earn pennies in return at best.
30 years trading solus dealers closing down, 500 bikes sold in a year and no money made, supported only by the workshop and clothing sales, no wonder you have to love bikes to be in the business. My company has tried to find buyers for several who wanted out, and no takers unfortunately. Lets hope Infinity can move on, but unless it changes there will be more and more doors closing.
Hmmm to true - I cant think of any real reason to cease trading other knowingly trading whilst insolvent - so they must be covering their butts.
I hope they have more than half the required brain cell - they will be needing it to rescue and reshape it. Harder still if its the current management team running the shops. One would think outside buyers would be best considering changes should have been made already been made with the current management. Either way - Retail is a hard business to make money in.
My local Piaggio dealer has mentioned a few times that trade has been slow due to the poor weather over summer, but he has cheap run down looking premises he can probably fund from dealing 2 stroke oil to chavs. I imagine it must be tougher for those paying rent on glossy city centre locations with plenty of staff. My experience of the Holborn branch is that whilst always friendly and helpful, staff always outnumbered customers.
