Arrrgggh. Stepped out front of work just now and saw some scooterist trying to park into the tiniest space possible. she had to move another scooter out the way to and forced her way between it and some chap’s BMW bike. I said, nicely, no swearing or raised voice that there are plenty of bike spots round here with hardly any walking distance and she could cause a bike to fall over or be damaged somehow. ``I didn’t and anyway, you could die’’ was her learned response. I just told her if she ever touched my bike I’d be more than upset. Had to walk away at that point. Still want to punch something. What is it with people??? She just had to park bang outside our building, that’s all it was, no walking for her, she wanted and she had to have. fck her. oh well, my first rant on here. still don’t feel better.
This kind of thing really gets on my tits. There used to be a code of honour - you didn’t touch another bloke’s bike. I know two guys who have come back to their bikes (parked in marked bays) and found a scooter rider (I’m not ‘scooterist’ but it does tend to be scooter riders that get up to these antics) MANHANDLING THE BIKE to make room for the scooter! I also know that there are a lot of decent scooter riders who would not do this type of stuff so lets not get into a tedious biker v scooter slanging match!
However, If I caught someone touching my bike in this way (biker or scooterist). . .
Come on, lets get the gloves off!!!
Is it because she is a scooterist or is it because she was a she?
what they let women ride bikes and scooters nowadays? pfft!
But yeah it is annoying, just means that I will never park a good looking bike in a bike bay.
probably was **that ** day of the month :hehe:
it’s not because she’s a woman or a scooterist. it’s because she’s a tw@t.
Come on, were you looking at her chest when speaking to her? ![]()
P*sses me off too, watching them squeeze themselves into the tiniest spaces, like stacking cans in a supermarket.
Blloox-to-that-sh1t, some of these riders have padlocks-n-chains to lock their bikes too! The kid round where I park at work was like Bruce Lee with a bike chain…he’d be dead like Bruce Lee too if he’d hit my bike too!
Now me being the practical joker i would love to park an old crap bike in a bay and loosen a few bits then go sit and wait til someone tried moving it and when said loose bits fall off start shouting and making a scene at the person who tried moving it:D;)
Saw a scooter doing something similar to what you’ve just explained the other day… unfortunately he/she wasnt quite as ‘careful’… 15 bikes doing the domino effect is not a pretty sight. The bikes in the middle of the mess didnt look too bad but the one on the end… very scratched and I’m pretty sure dented.
The scooter just sat there looking at the devistation he/she had caused and rode off!!! I took his reg down and reported it to the police station near by; I had to leave a witness report etc so hopefully they’ll get the bugger!!!
I WILL throttle someone if they done that to my bike - man/woman or beast!
Excellent work reporting it to Police. if you get any feedback let us know - hopefully the combination of points and extra insurance premium will put them back on the bus where they belong!
There was afew people standing around; some laughed (wanted to kick them in the head) and the rest just walked away. The way I see it is, if that was my bike/car whatever, and I wasnt present when the damage happened I’d hope that a witness came forward and help me out.
Treat those around you as you would wish to be treated
Ok,
just up the road from my work is a bike parking bay (fortunately we have covered parking at work) and there are two bikes that are lying on their sides, one at each end of the bay. One of the bikes looks like it hasn’t been used in ages (there are literally cobwebs on the handlebars) and the other looks quite new but has a nice cover over it even while it’s lying on it’s side. I first saw this on Monday and assumed it must have been the wind that blew them over. A bit strange that it’s the bikes at each end of the bay though.
Anyway- I feel awful riding past on my way home- I could always stop and pick them up (not that any of the other people who use the bay ever bother). That’s someone’s P&J. But the thing stopping me is the fact the owners haven’t checked them themselves? If I’d parked in a bay and my bike was exactly where it was except with a load of extra scratches I’d wonder what happened?! So would you want to come back to find someone had picked your bike up? Or would you want to find it as the wind(?) had left it?
I’m not sure if I should care about their bikes if the owners don’t even check them over a week?
this use to happen out side the bloomberg building in the city bikes rammed into any gap if i had a stopping me getting out it was manhandled out into the road and left, I would always make a point of stopping and telling the traffic warden about it on the way out.
When i parked in Morgate U/G bike bays some TW*T parked across the only exit with thier bike, we asked the attendent and he did not want to know, so a group of us picked it up and moved it to else where in the carpark where it sat for month.
I ve always hopped that one day it happens there is enougth of us around to turn it up side down!
and it not just scooters its m/c as well!
I blame Ken Livingstone :hehe:
I caught a bloke on a Vespa trying to move my bike a bit so that he can squeeze his bike in. I told him i`ll break his hands if he carried on doing it.
So he got back on his ped and went away.
I hate it when you get back to your bike and you cant get on it as theres only a couple of mill between the bikes.
watch out i see mel swingin 4 uyou gotta own a good looking bike first :D:P
Surely the least these inconsiderate parkers deserve is to be treated to a cheap disc lock on their wheel as a little present ? :w00t:
Yawn…
