In the good old days

Was talking to a friends dad last night who conveyed an old scootering story…

Over forty years ago, he decided to take his new girlfriend away for the weekend to Glasgow (from London) on his 90cc Vespa. All was well until they hit some very bad fog and so he ended up “driving the white lines” to stay on the road.

He described how his gf (now wife, celebrating 40th anniversary yesterday) had to sit facing the other way to warn him when any cars or lorries wanted to overtake, so he could pull over to the left.

They made it as far as Grantham before he fell asleep and drove into the back of a lorry! Neither were wearing crash helmets (he said they weren’t around in those days) and they ended up in hospital for three days before coming back down to London on same scooter. minus working lights.

The bit I loved most (aside from the fact that they are still together…) was when he said to me as I was about to set off “You be careful on your bike son, there are some right idiots on the road.”

:D:D

Hilarious!

i aint gonna get a better laugh today i dont think :P:P

Haha… Love it!

Hilarious! :stuck_out_tongue:

that has put a smile on me miserable face for the day:D

lol, that raised a chuckle, excellent:D

That’s fantastic!

My dad told me the other week how he was once sat on the back of his mate’s bike in about 1968. It was chucking it down with rain, they were doing about 90, and he couldn’t hold on to anything because he was clinging to the two huge exhaust pipes perched on his shoulders.

The thing is, they were going from London to Great Yarmouth.
