Check the DVLA website - http://www.dft.gov.uk/dvla/

any idea of cost of registration and stuff?

Sorry, looks like DVLA the site is temporarily unavailable.

However a Google search for ‘registering a motorcycle in the UK’ brings up a relevant result in the first hit.
Why not try it

I did one that was imported from Italy a few years ago, so rules may have changed, but it wasn’t all that hard.
Basically, you need something that dates the bike, for me they accepted the Italian log book, but it may be that you need to get a letter from Piaggio to date the frame number. Apparently, one of the scooter clubs can do it for a small fee.
Then you need an MOT (so you’ll have to have a way of getting the scoot to an MOT place before it’s registered).
Then you send all the paperwork to the DVLA (ring the first to get the correct forms). Apparently sometimes they ask for the bike to be seen, but they didn’t for me. I think the fee was like £30 or something + whatever it is to tax it for a year.
After that they send a tax disc and paperwork to get the registration plate made up. From that point onwards, it’s exactly like a UK bike, so doesn’t make a difference in insurance (as long as it’s a model that was also available in the UK).

I found it pretty straight forward, and only took 2-3 weeks, but as I said, this is a few years ago, so things may have changed.

One word of warning though, the imported restored scooters had a very very poor reputation a few years ago. There were a few companies in the far east and India that would sell cheap ones to the UK, but apparently the were generally put together very poorly. So even they may look good, try to make sure you don’t end up having to rebuild the thing soon after buying.

Ugh. Don’t.

I’ve been restoring Vespas for a few years, and have seen many indian and far-eastern ‘restorations’. Many of them were not only badly done, they were downright dangerous.

thanks this was what i was looking for

and
there wont be any problem in quality of the restoration as i will get some one to keep a eye on the guy restoring the bike

could you guys explain the difference b/w the good restored and badly restored vespas this is going to be my first vespa resto

and also what is avg cost of a fully restored 1962-6 vespa in uk?

I have done this years ago with an italian one and as mentioned above it was quite easy
2 clubs can do this for you and there is a bit of info on the asian imports

Do you do this for living or just for yourself?
I’ve still got my crash damaged PX200 that I was hoping to put back on the road one day. If you do restorations for others, I wouldn’t mind a quote. I was always going to do it myself, but just don’t have the space and time.

thanks guys for ur help\will start my project i have arranged few funds

Get in touch with Ricky of Ricky’s Pitstop in Romford. He goes off to Italy every year and comes back with rotten, rusty old Lammys and Vespas. He’ll sell them cheap for people to sort doing the work themselves or he’ll get them fixed up.

If you look on his website he currently does not have any old Vespas but he has original Lammys starting from £800.

talk to scooterworks or email one of the clubs they will know all the ins and outs
