Bonjour!
Hiya,Welcome to LB…![]()
Hey,
thanks for the welcoming replies.
Had a fantastic 2hr test drive on the new street triple yesterday - but rather than be extremely happy i’m getting one, it’s left me feeling a little confused.
2weeks ago i rode a speed triple fully loaded with an arrow race system fitted, this is the bike i would like in a years’ time (once i get a bit of experience).
Although during the test ride yesterday, i really felt that the bike was missing some oomph up to 5000rpm. Ok, I’m a new rider, but the last thing i want to do is spend £0000’s on a bike that in the short space of a few weeks, i’m going to feel either bored with, or alter my riding to thrashing the thing around.
Driving the speed triple, the power just oozed from the throttle, wherever you were in the rev range, and whatever gear you were in - barely touched 3rd gear (based on running out of road, and it sounding the b*llocks in 2nd!)
So, basically I’ve got a couple of weeks to decide whether i take a new street (will add race system) - or a 1yr old speed, fully loaded with 2500mls.
Arrrrrgh!!! is biking life always this tough!
help!
hi and welcome alex.
if i was you get the new one.
hello and welcome
having ridden the speed triple i`d say get that. awsome fun i loved it i only had a hour to test ride it and it made a very big impression on me wish i could get 1 lovely bike
hiya and welcome! get the speedtriple, ive just gone from a 600 to the 955i tiger, great!!!![]()
Hiya and welcome to LB. ![]()

Well, I’ve got the 1050 Triple myself, and I can say that it’s enough bike to keep you occupied for a long time!! For many the Street Triple will be an ideal first big bike, but if you have already ridden the Speed Triple you know what the difference is between the two.
I suspect that no matter what you do to the Street Triple, it’ll never have the same bonkers torque of its bigger brother… If this would be a constant annoyance of ‘what if?’ to you, and you feel comfortable on the Speed Triple then I’d say go for the bigger bike.
Must sound absolutely cracking with the Arrow system on - that’s on my ‘to do’ list ![]()
Thanks for the replies guys,
I spoke to the dealer, and they’ll be putting the arrow system on the street hopefully sometime this week - so maybe next weekend it’ll have the miles on it and the arrow race system (can open it out a little).
Then I can make my last comparison…
Cheers
ps. yep Uber, it sounds amazingly throaty on the speed
I wonder - with an arrow - if the boy’ish urge to rev it under bridges and tunnels ever wears out!
Welcome aboard ![]()
“I wonder - with an arrow - if the boy’ish urge to rev it under bridges and tunnels ever wears out!”
Nope!..I left BM last week and en-route back to Greenwich there’s a tunnel/underpass/extended bridge section I pass through, don’t know what the road is called as my geography of London is still very limited but it’s an old stretch of one way road not far from London bridge on the South side of the river, riding through it the bike sounds awesome and when you have to wait at the lights at the other end you are actually still in the tunnel, the temptation to deafen the cagers is just too great!! ![]()
lol, so Im not the only one then!
welcome to lb, glad to see you choosing a triumph, if you want something with more ooomph try a daytona ![]()
Hello Alex, welcome to the site…
