Oh my good god - think i have been to hell and back… Sat out the rain all mornin thinking ‘hell it has to clear up at some point…’ So it did, i spent 45 mins with me and some random builder putting the panniers and luggage onto the bike and then with a flourrish, off i set. Only to be forced to pull over in a petrol station 5 mins later as the heavens opened.
Sit tight for about 15mins before conceeding tbat i am gonna just get wet. And that is my sorry ride to Norwich. 4 hours, horrendous traffic, bustery winds and pissing rain all the way home until i get 5 mins from the house. My poor gloves are never gonna dry out and my dad has now admitted tha he just wanted to see if i would wimp out or not!!!
Ah well., alive and well and stronger than i thought!!!
ooofffff you must get waterproofs. A bikers biggest enemy is getting wet and riding at speed. The body temp cools and concentration reduces, stay dry, warm and ultimately safer.
Well done on your first long journey in the rain, may it stay dry for your trip to Italy.
I can’t believe you left your flippers…oops sorry Mad…fins behind, especially as you’d been waiting for the rain to ease off, what would you have done if you’d ridden into a puddle and had to swim to shore?!?
