I'm no fair weather rider,....

Oh my good god - think i have been to hell and back… Sat out the rain all mornin thinking ‘hell it has to clear up at some point…’ So it did, i spent 45 mins with me and some random builder putting the panniers and luggage onto the bike and then with a flourrish, off i set. Only to be forced to pull over in a petrol station 5 mins later as the heavens opened.

Sit tight for about 15mins before conceeding tbat i am gonna just get wet. And that is my sorry ride to Norwich. 4 hours, horrendous traffic, bustery winds and pissing rain all the way home until i get 5 mins from the house. My poor gloves are never gonna dry out and my dad has now admitted tha he just wanted to see if i would wimp out or not!!!

Ah well., alive and well and stronger than i thought!!!

well done that girl!!! good on yer, hehe i bet your dads eating his words now!!

Sounds horrible ! And you did that on new tyres too ! Good practice though. Have some cake and sit by the fire for a while

Glad you got there,I wasn’t worried at all.Stiil think its a good idea to nick your Dad’s Pan to ride South on

wow! rather you than me! mind you its a good test of your riding skills

Well done that girl, I never doubted you for a minute, riding down to Italy in the gorgeous sunshine is going to be a doddle after that!!

Worse still - i did it on old tyres - eek! Anyone who has seen my bike will tell you that my tyres are not up to anything morethan a drizzle!!! oops!

It wouldn’t have been nice regardless of your tyres.

Well done, bet it’s given you a bit more confidence for the next couple of weeks riding

Hell yes! Thinking that if I buy a set of waterproofs (errrr, yep, no waterproofs today) i think that i may be invincible!!!

Errm, not even waterproof trousers that some generous soul donated!!!

ooofffff you must get waterproofs. A bikers biggest enemy is getting wet and riding at speed. The body temp cools and concentration reduces, stay dry, warm and ultimately safer.

Well done on your first long journey in the rain, may it stay dry for your trip to Italy.

Sadly that only covered one half!! Just need to get meself a jacket n i’ll be laughing!

At least you had your new flippers to fall back on

Well done Alice. It’s all good practice for The Real One

ironically they were in fact the one thing i left behind in London!! See, am rubbish at this forward planning malarky

well i must admit i havent got any throw over waterproofs to go over my dainese gear, dont really find i need it, got a good gore-tex jacket

Then you have a lesson to learn grasshopper…

I can’t believe you left your flippers…oops sorry Mad…fins behind, especially as you’d been waiting for the rain to ease off, what would you have done if you’d ridden into a puddle and had to swim to shore?!?

Well done, personally i’d probably have thought sod it and driven a car

Anyway… Whats wrong with being a FWB if you have the choice?

pfffft and you took the mickey for me getting the train up to Borough.

Well done Alice (apart from the planning bit)
