Im a Lucky Lad!

I got side swiped by a bus lastnight!, I was passing a bus which had pulled in at a bus stop with it’s indicator still flashing left, then as I was passing it the bus just swung its front out at me… I lightly hit into the side of it which pushed me into the opposite side of the road, where I then had to dodge an on coming car and in doing that I just missed crashing into a road island!.. Someone looked after me that night as it’s pure luck I missed coming off through all of that!.

WoW thats a close call mate !

Did you go back to the bus driver ?

Had something silimialr a few weeks back. Makes you feel glad to be alive.

glad your ok matey!

bus drivers are probabaly the second most dangerous biker killers after lady drivers:)

last year on Waterloo Bridge, a bus swerved outside bus lane to overtake another bus, it forced to to brake hard

lucky indeed, any CCTV available? wonder what TFL will say about this one… bastards… probably increase the travel cost even more so they can afford better training for their **** drivers…

Let’s not tar all bus drivers with the same brush…some are better than others.

But you did have a lucky escape and I do think that some bus drivers do take their right to pull out from bus stops a little too far…

Also a bit of a peeve when they indicate to pull out of a stop in a bus lane, but then dont actually pull out, they just carry on in the bus lane, so I have slowed down for nothing! (dont like doing that  )

nearly ended up spalyed over the front of an Espace people carrier the other night:w00t:

was very close, would have been a head on as i was filtering, the bastid moved at the last second…

nevermind…just another day in the life of a londonbiker:D…LOVE IT!

You do wonder if some of the busies check their mirrors before pulling out. Saw a double decker try and flatten a cyclist last night near Camberwell Green. Just pulled out of the bus lane to overtake another bus without indicating. Thankfully the cyclist had his wits about him and swerved out into the other side of the road, which was clear of traffic.

You are very, very lucky. Sounds like that could have been so much worse. Good skills!

I was going to!, but I was so shaken up I went up the road abit further and turned off to park up and have a ciggy!.. I think the bus driver probably got a good scare himself so I thought there’s no need to rip him up about it… as when I looked in my rear view mirror just after it had happened I saw that the bus had pulled over again and stopped.

When I cycle buses often pull out when you are right next to them, as a racing cyclist it’s not so bad as I have a pretty good sprint so I can get past them when dropping back is dangerous. I don’t know how slower riders manage, scary.

Nice to have a bike with a bit of poke as well, much better on the Bandit than when I was on the Van Van. I’m going to be happier when the GF has a bigger bike too.

yeah…they aint all bad…just watch out for frogga!

phew, that sounded damn close!:w00t:

but on a more important, nay critical, matter, can you please post a few random numbers between 1 and 50 for me?
