Just to make this more prominent, thought I would make a new thread.
As referred to here, IanXV1600 is making excellent progress from the stroke he suffered last weekend.
If you wish to visit him, he is here:
Bed C, Bay 6, Harvest B ward, Queen’s Hospital, Rom Valley Way, Romford, Essex RM7 0AG.
Visiting hours are 3pm to 5pm and 6pm to 7.30pm.
It seems that receiving visitors is good for stroke victims, so if you’re not sure whether you should go or not, then JFDI - I’m sure Ian will delighted to see you. Just bear in mind the limit on visitors of two per bed.
If there are lots there at one time, then there is a coffee shop in the lobby area nearby so people can wait their turn there.
I strongly encourage people to visit him. Its easy to find Ian’s ward - just go through the main entrance, up the escalator, follow the orange signs to the far end straight ahead, then turn left and the lifts are on your right. Go to the 4th floor and follow signs to Harvest B Ward. He’s at the far end on the right hand side.
Bike parking is very convenient - just ride up to the main entrance, turn right and you will see a shelter over an area of pavement amongst the disabled parking bays. You can park right under that shelter, about 50 yards from the main entrance. Its not strictly a bike parking area but another biker who was leaving as I arrived told me he had been using it regularly with no problems.
I’m sure Ian would love to see you and as I mentioned earlier, it should be good for his recovery.
Hi, this is Sue. Ian is still coming on in leaps and bounds, which is great. I, however, am hovering on the brink of meltdown and wonder if there is anyone here who can possibly manage a wee visit on Monday and/or Tuesday evening so I could have a guilt free couple of nights off. I’d be really grateful and I know Ian could do with seeing a face not etched with exhaustion and worry. It would give him a real boost as well.

Ah, the perils of being out all day! I didn’t see this till now but I really hope you decided to pop in anyway. Ian was on real fine form today, much more like his usual self, no pain and not so tired. Good time to visit Oh, I really hope you went along just on the off chance.
Hi there, yes i did go along and see Ian, ive pmd you as well? Hes looking really well…and we had a chat, about bikes of course…had a laugh and he said hes bored and wants to go home !! ha ha…he said he feels fine…and yes, hes looking like his old self…hope to see him again soon…hopefully not in the hosp eh?
Keep us updated Sue if hes still in hosp or not by end of week then i will go and see him again…

I’ll probably miss these forums when himself is home and takes over again It’s good to get other people’s impressions of how he is because when’ you’re so close and see him everyday you can easily read too much or too little into tiny gestures and moods. Your view of how he is seems to pretty much match my own which is very encouraging.I’m really hoping he’s home by the weekend. The stroke nurse said he could well be just so long as they can get some OT in place, otherwise it will sadly mean a transfer to Whipps after all. He doesn’t need to be in hospital anymore so I hope they get it sorted. Obviously I’ll keep you all informed.
Thanks for that…(keeping us informed etc)…soon as we know and hes able we can come down and get some chips… But he has to be sitting down with us eating them and not serving us !!
if its ok i would like to pop in and see him tomorrow afternoon as im going to wasps about 6pm and the hospital is on the way to wasps, it would be good to see him and let him see another familar face
As to me opening my own account, flattering as it is to be invited, I should mention that I don’t even do the pillion thing anymore. I also think that poor Ian is entitled to his refuge from my constant chat! But thank you anyway.
Finally, for now, if anyone wants to visit please just go. It would be nice to received a pm if anyone does go because Ian doesn’t always remember who has been unless gently reminded. Other than that please just feel free to visit as and when.
