Nice bike, but you want a 97 rather (they have madder ECU’s than the rest) with a proper shock and forks done for that money with that mileage - at 28k that gearbox may not have too long to live if it hasn’t been looked after i.e. no wheelies, etc. Its worth looking around for a low mileage 97. Did I mention the set of TL Marvics in my garage…
Spoken to the dealer . . . He says he’s selling it without a warranty . . . and according to Parkers guide it’s about £300 under value . . . tho he did say it would benefit from new tyres
no mate i was after the 853 one that was for sale it has been sold now.
im just seeing whats about im looking at a clean zx7r at mo,
but may wait to winter is over now.
about the TL it all depends on what the shop payed for it if it not a main dealer they can knock it out cheaper, but you may have probs if it starts playing up.
they have a good strong engine, abit twitchy on the gas in corners but that is not going to be a prob for you at the mo.also if its an early it will be 125bhp if not i think they dropped to 112ish
good tyres are about £200ish and the extra on you insurance it will cost you more in the long run at the mo,just check and see what the insurance componys says before you get your hopes up to much mate.
what is the milage not that it really matters as long as it has had good oil in it and changed regurly
nice looking bike just looked at there website, why dont you and gridgirl take a run up to have a look at see what paper work its got,it is a cheap bike.
its a lot of bike for the money.
they seem to have a few bikes up there so go fill your boots
The two main problems to look for are 1) the gearbox (usually 3rd goes first), and 2) the big end. Do not worry about a noisy “clacking” motor, they all do that. If he isn’t giving a warranty, it is the same as buying private, so have a look and see what you can get for the same money privately - specifically look for bikes with aftermarket suspension, forks done, pc2’s, cans and aftermarket steering dampers. Also look at the frame near the rear shock’s top mount and inspect for cracks in the frame.
