I NEED INFORMATION!!!

Hi there LB members, I was wondering if I could pick your brains!!! I am collating some information together for an upcoming article and would appreciate your help and your opinions on the following points…

All of the questions apply to London and inside the M25.

We are all aware of the usual good bike hangouts, parking spots and meets including the Ace Café, Chelsea Bridge and Soho.

  1. Are there any other regular or other popular hangouts that are not covered on this site?
  2. Are there other car park meets that we are not aware of?

We know you guys and gals go out on regular ride outs in and around London…

  1. What are your favourite roads inside the M25?
  2. Which roads do you think are the best? Or worst?
  3. Where are the most hidden speed cameras?
  4. What is the worst location for speed cameras?

There are lots of bike and accessory shops all over London that we all use…

  1. Which ones give you the best customer service?
  2. Which shops give you the best discounts?

That’s it for now… And thank you for your help….

you want these as PM’s or on here?

Favorite roads inside the M25:

My LB rideout up the A41 to Elstree and all the roads incorporated off the A5 into Radlett and Shenley.

If you want road names and a proper route let me know.

Can’t tell you which shop gives good service, but I can tell you where you get bad service: Infinity at Great Portland Street. There’s this tall guy with shaven head who when he doesn’t spend all his time on the computer, he is sleeping on the sofa or snuggling up to foxy ladies in leathers… James, I think his name is…

Brooke doesn’t like the camera going west on Millbank, and I don’t like the one immediately after you enter the Limehouse Link from the City.

Thanks pips…

Terry all road numbers would be great… trying to gather as much info as possible…

Paivi, I think I know that guy your going on about!!! Rude and no help what so ever!!!

You can put the info on this thread, No need to PM me… Thanks…

i get up blackheath on a wednesday night thats a regular bike meet i kno they generally meet their an go to the bridge an soho on a friday night

Good Roads,

All around Mount Vernon Hospital.
Kingston one way system (only at night time when there is no traffic - Police are outside the clubs though)
Heathrow Airport (middle of the night again)
Lots of country Roads around High Barnet have just been re surfaced in the last 6 months.
The Greenbelt between Harrow and Watford.

Bad Roads

Lady Margarget Road - lots of speed reducing road plop and uneven surfaces.
Local roads in Brentford - speed humps at junctions making turning difficult, narrow roads over crowded with parked cars, road is often used to film moon documentaries as it has soo many craters…

All I can think of right now - Wembly high street is poor, but thats down to the people that (attempt to) drive there.

Cameras I don’t like

A406 northbound just before ikea, its around the corner, so you take the corner at speed and have to brake hard to stop. Then the car racing you also has to brake hard to match your braking. Safety Camera - My A$$, if it is a accident black spot then it is because of that camera. Put it before the bend so vehicles can 1) see it and 2) go slow through the bend

I don’t come across many others that cause nuissance, I guess as I have learned to live with them and know the regular ones. I use the break in speed to relax (no hands on handle bars) sort my gloves, play with my visor, etc… Then drop a gear and see you later.

Top Meets!

We tend to meet in Projects back garden, he has a paddock stand! lol

Great service from Rivitts inside Chiswick Honda, but they are limited to Frank Thomas clothing and items from the motrax catalogue. Suoamy nice suoamy gear. No Discounts at all (except for end of line sale). Great after service too. They fixed my Roof lid, even though I didn’t buy it there and theysent my suamy jacket for repair when the zip bust. Very proper!

Good service from Infinity, Hanger Lane. Friendly guys, will discount when you spend a bit of money. Nice choice of gear.

Good/average service from Collin Collins, Harrow. Nice selection of goods, often found things cheaper there than at inifinity, I have never haggled prices there, not really spent as much as other places.

Good service Hien Gericke, Harrow. (Adam fancies the new girl working there). Great bunch of people very helpful. I have not bought much from there so have never discussed pricing really.

Good average service from daytona in ruislip. If you go into the shop part of the showroom, and state that the salesman said you would get a discount here if you bought a bike from him, they will give you the discount up front. Once you start to spend they will discount everything. I saved about £150 when I spent £500.

Hi Foxy,

Fav roads inside M25?

Embankment, M40 slip into London from M25 - perhaps the best motorway corner EVER?, M25 onto M4 heading west - also very good when quiet. Heathrowm Perimeter loop (ChrisDee help here mate) and I enjoy the main road from Chelsea Bridge to Westminster(A3212 Millbank). Otherwise all dull and cack. Terry’s roads are canny but hampered by traffic and speed limits. Some decent roundabouts tho when it’s quiet. He’ll fill you in.

Shops? I agree with GoF there, and I would definitely add Bill Bunn’s in South Ealing. Trad old bike shop - front of shop is packed little showroom with old bikes and really old odd bikes, then tidy but well used workshop. Bill runs the place and has for some 30/40 years I think. Very reasonable (£120 for full service and front sintered pads on 7!) and very diligent, checking and recommending stuff without needing to be asked.

Hope this helps.

forgot about bill bunn - 10% for Honda owners club members… or tell him you are aware of the club and he will still look after you… maybe show some leg, lol

good shop - west london suzuki in bedfont just off from the airport, bought a drz supormoto decided i didnt like it and the guy gave me a great deal on a gsxr600 also very helpful staff.

good roads- not sure if this qualifies but the road from boxhill up to newlands corner via gomshall then on to the black swan is an old favourite of mine.

Best roads would have to be up near Harefield, its inbetween Uxbridge and Ruislip, very good twisty country roads with some mean corners

Also there are the roads up near Denham Village but watch out for a few cameras and dodgy roads.

The corner going onto the M4 from the M25 heading West like Andrew said, Lovely corner when its quiet

All speed cameras suck

Hein Gerike in Harrow is the shop I use the most and the guys there are great.

There is also a Garage in Hanwell, I think its on the Boston Manor Road, the guy there Rob is really good and isn’t too expensive.

Chiswick Honda do top notch services but are very very very expensive!

My house is a popular hang out as GOF says, mainly because I’m the only one who has bother to buy a padock stand

Roads :

Picadilly circus, ultimate kneedown pose, take the exit down to Haymarket just right and you can graze pushy pedestrian’s shopping with yer Arai…

Kingston one way system - would love to time some laps or 5am TT ?

A308 Hampton court - Sunbury, some good corners, bit tight, gets less interesting on way to Staines, but then, heaven :

A308 @M25-J13 Runnymede to Old Windsor, a mile+ long series of flowing 80-90-100mph corners alongside the thames, so good [the old] Motorcycle City in bedfont used to take all test rides over there. Never ever seen any speed enforcement jive along there.

M4 elevated section in Brentford, peverse, probably very wrong, but fun

No mention of the Epping forest tea hut (just inside M25)

Good shops

Hein Gericke (Gants Hill) great bunch of guys and gal serving there

Moto care (Romford) for tyres - one of the cheapest for tyres around and very helpful

yeah i have a huge factory estate near me in east molesey. it.s wher me and a few m8s go stunting parking for about 5000 bikes a long straightroad for stunting with nice new tarmac locol shops petrol and takeaways and no traffic at weekends and evenings. it,s idel

A1081 from High Barnet to london colney at the end there is a fantastic round about good for 60mph knee down fun

then go up the colney bypass towards st. albans and get lost around there a414 is cool

also the lower Luton road is great but you must do it at the right time if you get caught behind a lorry your facked

I also did a ride to cambridge a few months ago on me todd and that was great some real good roads on the way if you take the A roads this was the route I did not turn up to the traing course I spent the day riding around I was having so much fun

it would be good to see you and your boys down ther coops !

Unfortunately Tony things have been changin down in West Hampsted and it hasn’t been for the better,(in my opinion) They r good guy’s thou down there!!!

Sorry lads, wrong Quote!!!

Greetings all, especially to Gof and Terry who seem to go out riding around my neck of woods, ever fancy company PM me and let me know.

Best ride for me is come off of M25 at junction 17 head south along A412 towards Maple Cross , turn right onto A412 towards Denham, stay on A412 slowing down through West Hyde and as you come over Hill by Bosch as Chad Valleys finest like to sit there with radar guns just before speed camera in Denham. Left onto Moorfield Road, past the Horse and Barge. I find this particularly satisfying if there are a lot of 4 wheeled vehicles there with names including the following letters RS, GTi and Turbo.

When you get to end of road turn right towards Ickenham on Harvill Road, lots of dead ground, sharp bends and tractors to keep riding sharp. right at end of road at Ickenham onto B467 at roundabout onto A40 down to A406 and onto the ACE, need I say more.

Shops in Watford and surrounds are Lloyd Coopers, Colin Collins and J&S. Lloyd Cooper swill bend over backwards to help you if you have nought a bike from there, but otherwise I find there service not up to scratch. I had a Service there which was fine, but when my clucth went two weeks later they couldn’t have cared less and did not want to help me. Colin Collins did and got my bike back to me the next day. I know who I willbe going to for my next service.

J & S do lots of good discount stuff, but my girl friend says they don’t take female bikers seriously. Is a good place to meet other bikers though and is just off A41 south of Junction 5 of M1.

I will Big up Freedom Motorcyce training whose premises are round back. The guys there are comiitted or at least some of them should be! They were very patient with me when I was doing my training even when I managed to somersault an ER5 down tolpits lane.

I hope these views help.
