I was coming from Greenwich towards Charlton and was headed to the Peninsula. When I got to the lights at the flyover I went in to the middle lane and the biker went in to the left hand lane.
As I see it, if you want to go the Blackwall Tunnel you go in the left lane. For the Peninsula you go in the middle lane and for Charlton or the A2 towards the M25 you go in the right lane.
The lights changed and I went towards the Peninsula exit. You have to go slightly left, then slightly right.
The biker was headed towards Charlton, so came across me as he has to go right.
We both braked and gave each other some verbal.
I did not indicate at all because as I saw it I am going (for all intents and purposes) straight on.
For those that know this junction what do you reckon?
If we’re thinking about the same junction (the one just after the car wash and before Sainsbury’s?), it’s a nasty one. I’ve seen a lot of confusion - and plenty of near-misses - there.
It sounds to me like he was just in the wrong lane. If you’d indicated, you’d have had to put your left signal on, then two seconds later change to the right, then switch it off almost straight away - which I think would make matters even more confusing.
was it a black bike in full black leathers cos my bro just come in ranting about a car driver down there looool opsss if so dont worrie he cant ride for ****…:w00t:
Who’s to blame? Well you have a choice from TfL, DoT, GLC or LBG. In short, some stupid traffic engineer (not many are very bright) in some highways department or another who came up with several dreadfull junctions in that area.
I reckon the only person in the wrong was the highways traffic engineer some years back.
It sound like the sorta thing that happens every day somewhere. With my sensible hat on (its in the loft somewhere) I’d say that if you know the road lay out causes probs, be prepared to let others have it. Sometimes this is the best way to control your road space. Failing that, employ the “Trafic Light Grand Prix” Technique!
