I know I've said this before but......

I like to ride my bike…not sit drinking tea looking at it.

I don’t really see the point of meets that involve a lot of standing around, if I wanted to talk to any of you, I would post a message on the forum.

I’d like to post a reply to some posts here but the Kunting website won’t allow me to quote properly from the iPad.
I don’t go to the ace cause I’m too far away, it sucks, too many scrotes, roundabouts closed etc… Bm on occasions as I don’t fancy commuting INTO London for a meet I. Rush hour traffic and then back again. TH as its 10 min away and even that’s a chore…
:doze:

I was away friday night but i have been giving the ace a wide birth, and when i did pop down there last week after BM i ended up with a ticket.

So i think we need a new friday meeting place.

Good points well made Kaos.

What’s the point of that? :hehe:

The problem with the Ace is that there are too many cocks there just wanting to stir trouble. As I mentioned in another thread it would appear one of the reasons for the current clamp down is someone throwing something at the police a couple of weeks ago.

I haven’t been down on a Friday in a while, work, drinks, and other reasons.

The Ace on a Friday used to be bikes, bikers, and a place to gather for rideouts. The rideouts don’t happen that often, a lot of people who came down for that simply don’t go now, and there are to many cars now pulling hand brake turns and doing donuts blocking the RM trucks. It has gotten dangerous.

That said I might head down a week Friday.

Good point well made Vern, but might be worth also looking at some of the things that make LB’ers leave too. If we didn’t lose so many, we wouldn’t have to worry so much about constantly attracting new ones.

Also I’m sure like a lot of others, I have been there at least half a dozen times over the summer - never seen you there (you were probably hiding! ;)) - it’s ok, but like you do I want to do it EVERY Friday - no. I barely see my non-biker friends as it is anymore, they have kind of come to expect that they will only see me if it’s raining! A lot of people give a lot of time to LB in one way or another, but in terms of people who are going to events/ rideouts - probably a couple of hundred ‘regulars’ at most. Many are based far from The Ace, many others will be married/ have kids, so can’t get a ‘pass’, others will be put off by it’s rep and anyone with a small plate, loud pipes etc will think twice due to OB presence at times. Following the big crackdown about 6 weeks ago, there seems to be fewer in number generally.

Perhaps it was the centre of the biking universe, perhaps for some it still is. But not for all.

For me it’s mainly somewhere for me to meet people I am about to go riding with, if we’re going North or West. Do I just want to sit around drinking expensive soft drinks talking **** - not really, would rather be at BM - where I will know most of the people attending (rather than playing Where’s Wally?) and the burgers are better!! Frith Street has a pretty cool vibe too, so would not be surprised if that starts becoming popular (again).

vern im gonna try being there tonight and fly the LB flag lol knowing my luck im gonna be on my tod or with one or 2 LBers, we need to get back the LB gang and hit ace again like people used to when i joined up.

if anyone fancies flyign the LB flag tonight at ace cafe visit http://londonbikers.com/forums/1032929/ace-cafe-tonight-3082013

Some goods points coming out. As Kaos said, I too prefer riding to standing around admiring. For me the Ace is too far to travel, I work akward hours & when im not working, Im out riding in the west country.
Im more likely to be seen at Abergavenny then the Ace. I dont go there (abergavenny) because I want to meet people, I go because its a nice route and is somewhere to stop for a brew, which happens to be popular with bikers. You do get the OB there but its not to police, its for them to have a snack too! There’s no stunting etc & its a relaxed atmostphere - unlike the Acenappears to be at the moment.
Re the point about attracting new members, I’d never even heard of the Ace, let alone been there when I started riding (yes, sad I know)
I stick around the boards because its a way of sharing information. I dont feel, not see a reason why I have to represent anything! Im sure different people want, take & give different things from within “the community”. I’ll often ignore certain sections if i have no interest but for others, thats the section that they might go straight to.
Imho, the one thing ive found that puts most people off forum boards is in “house fighting”.

yes this is common sense its the reason i buy a bike i like to ride it i did nt buy it just to drink tea and talk about how clean my bike is lol or hey look at me brigade  ok a nice cuppa and dinner after a ride or half way through is ok though

I am with Kaos on this.
