Ace cafe, Friday night, biggest bike meet in LONDON, 100+ bikes and the LONDONBIKERS contingency numbered…(wait for it!)…2!!!
I know the food is terrible and the drinks are over-priced, I’m also aware of the myriad of excuses that will surely follow (it’s too far, washing my hair, dead grandmother, blah, blah, blah!) BUT you have to admit it was still a fucking poor turn-out! I was having a chat with 5 very experienced riders (all London and top end bikes!) and not one of them had heard of this site!
So keep your reasons/excuses, I really don’t want to hear them! I’m just stating a fact!
I have an excuse for last night, and quite few future ones, BUT…
Every Friday before I was there, just to find out similar number of LB’ers (or less) attending there. Yes it is poor and dunno really why is like that…
It is a poor turn out admittedly, my reason for giving up on the Ace is that it’s just the same old same old every time. Same old food, drinks, prices, idiots & attitudes (not amongst the LB’rs I sterss). I enjoy meeting up elsewhere when I can, The Ace has ground to a halt really, nothing new if you see what I mean. Box, Newlands etc are at least in a more pleasant area with far more friendly atmospheres I find.
Seems I have a point…Who knew!!! Blade. they have raspberry ripple access you know? And Rob, nobody is saying it’s obligatory but when this is a LONDONbikers forum and at the biggest bike meet in LONDON the only 2 LB’ers in attendance were outnumbered by Sierraleonebikers.com, I think there is an issue!!
And don’t bring up the food and drink issue as the food is much worse at Box and the roadside pub bench in Blackheath!!
To be honest, I don’t like the ace on Friday nights!
Went once on a street fighter night, by car as I had the children…it was scary with all the nutters going up and down the road. I did not park in the car park, had trouble get out of parking spcae with the nutters.
Never been back on a Friday.
I do pop down on a Sunday morning sometimes for a quick nasty coffee.
Completely agree! There are the rideouts, the BM meet, perving over the first female to post as a newbie and sitting at home on your laptop in your pants c**ting people off when they raise a valid point! Just in case you missed it my point is…THIS IS THE BIGGEST BIKE MEET IN LONDON AND A SUPPOSED LONDON BASED BIKER WEBSITE CANNOT MUSTER THE PEOPLE TO REPRESENT THE SITE AND LET OTHER LONDON BASED BIKERS KNOW OF IT’S PRESENCE, WITHOUT THAT PRESENCE HOW ELSE DOES THIS SITE ATTRACT THE NEW MEMBERS IT NEEDS TO SURVIVE?

ace on fridays suppose to be a meet for a chat and a laugh, regardless of the stuff going on the road opposite or the infamous roundabouts.
but reality is, for most that was the entertainment and probably main reason why to go to the ace, that and going up and down frith/blacktea etc. combined with the scare of police presence and absence of stunting on friday night, no wonder why most stay away from it.
i wasnt there last night as i went out but i do hope that most people would go back there on fridays for a good chat like it used to be.
btw Vern, redrat and a few others were there last night, you didnt see them i assume?
I was about but not till abit later we had a stop off an chewed the fat at chelsea bridge reminiscing of days gone by when it was a pleasure instead of a chore :doze:.
Vern, to be honest what do you expect?
The official Wed spot - BM, every week is jeopardise by few who want to go to black heath or any other place, because is more convenient to them. Is like “I wan’t to be a pianist but I rather play the cello”. I, once posted a joke like that on one of 1st Mondays, and had to fight with screaming people to explain what joke is. Every Wednesday I can see some messages about going black heath, nobody give the rats ass. Don’t like to go to BM? Fine, nobody will cry for you, just do not use LONDON BIKERS group to advertise your personal meet somewhere at the same time as BM is.
At Friday most have their social life, obviously they prefer to be called “London Biker” but more adequate, judging by ANY attendance, would be “London Commuter”. OK, I understand you can have no time, or you can be tired… always, constantly over period of months/years to attend at least once and say hello.
There is 52 weeks in the year, if any registered member will come over at least once a year I believe presence at Ace, BM, or anywhere would be significant.
And 30ish on the official LB meet it’s a flipping joke, why am I saying that? There is Essex Bikers community, as well and they have weekly meet, some of you been there but I’m not expecting backup :P. On the not pleasant weather day, BM would be outnumbered by few times, on nice Sunny day the parking space similar to Ace is packed. And EB 5300 forum members vs LB almost 20000. (Apology for doing this kind of compare).
