I have to get get a car...boo hoo the choices are...

I have to get myself a new car…I promised myself a new car if I get this deal (it would have been another bike if I had not had my accident) and I am expecting the order tomorrow…

I bought myself a tractor today but I dont think that counts…

here are my thoughts…for fun an ARIEL ATOM, unlikely to get one until january or february next year…but may still get one purely for track days…

Mercedes cls 320 cdi…lovely luxurious car extremely reliable and looks great.

Jaguar F-type…british and gets some great reviews but had a lot of trouble with my XKR and not convinced about reliability.

A classic car like a lotus esprit…s3 the best…V8 not great…or maybe an old series 3 jaguar 4.2…gorgeous but outrageous fuel consumption…

The new Nissan Skline GTR…will loose my licence in a week likely…but cant get one until next year…

I would love to buy an electric car but there are non that are safe enough or real enough for me to buy them…if someone builds an electric mondeo size car that does 60-70miles per charge then that would be for me…(since I will be producing my own elecrtricity next year it will be free tavel…full stop)

Or should I think about something else…

It does depend what you want the car for.
The Atom is just mental and serious fun but as practical as an ashtray on a goldwing.
The merc is a merc don’t do it.
Not sure what you mean about the F-type as they have not built it yet if in fact they ever will. As for reliability with the Jags you will not have a problem nowadays.
Classic cars come with trouble of their own but buy a good one and they can be seriously sexy and cool, e-type, TR4, MK1 escort/cortina. …beautiful
Lotus= Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious

Masses of choice and can depend on what sort of budget you set yourself.

Caterham 7:D they are the nuts

YOU BOUGHT A TRACTOR!!! how cool, what did you get?

Dare you to drive to bm in it lol:P

Harley Davidson? :stuck_out_tongue:

I`d go for a Jag.

its and old ford 7160 four wheel drive, 100 bhp and a tippig trailer, a post hole borer as I have to install 3kms of fencing and a grass topper…will be delivered next week… trip to bm in the tractor that would be a laugh, at 25mph it would also take me nigh on 2 hours to get there…

the new jag is the XF type…I hear what you say about the jags but I bought the XKR and it literally fell to bits…and that was in 2000 so am not convinced at all…mind you i am a more careful driver now…

I dont really need a car…I have a pick up truck that I use on site, is perfectly addequate getting me the 18 miles to my place…not good for meetings though i guess…but since most of my work is in london again I dont really need a good car for that either…

I had a lotus s3 b reg from new, in the first year I did 60,000 miles in it…it never broke down…it did stop if you went through a very big puddle but that was a lesson easily learned and the lotus s4s or a nice low mileage v8 is a lot of fun…

My last car was the S320cdi and that did over 50 mpg on a long run, over two tons of car doing over 50mpg amazing…the 320 cls is lighter and sexier…and not too expensive either…

Hmm not much help so far…

The XF jag is a lovely car…

the ariel atom is totally mental and would likely be instead of the classic car…but they are so damn noisy, the intake noise is deafening…and it doesnt feel that fast on the road, not like a nice r1 or zx10…hmm

think I am coming down to the cls and a lotus…lotus will be around 15-20k and the cls on a lease…hmm will have to clear the garage of all the bikes still got 5 in there…think the r1 will stay

You seem to have had good previous experience with the Merc – I used to have an SL and was terribly disappointed. The drive was uninvolving no matter how idiotic I tried to be and over the 3 years I had it, it cost me an absolute fortune in service and parts.

If you don’t have to take passengers and don’t travel long distances then do go for the fun . . . Ariel Atom!!

Nothing will feel like a bike, that’s why my car has stayed in the garage this summer. Will be for sale early next year if you’re interested, Dax Rush with supercharged Hayabusa engine, 320bhp and 510Kg means it’s faster than the Atom 300 and with the engine in the front it can stop as well as it goes too :stuck_out_tongue: If you’re interested let me know and I’ll bring it down and you can have a go. It’s an acquired taste, not easy to drive but once you get into it there’s nothing else that comes close with 3 or 4 wheels.

I’ve just laughed that much I’ve spat tea all over my computer screen :w00t::D:D

How about a KTM X-Bow - the best of both worlds!

Last one I saw sounded like a hair dryer…suppose you could change that but the TT engine will never sound good.

Buy a good Citroen DS21 !

Theres loads of cars that share the TT engine that sound amazing!

If you’re going classic how about a 911?

I had a 1972 911 e - which I sold about a year ago - great fun on a track/big roundabout and semi-reliable. Worth a thought.

What about an Aston?

What about a Touareg 3.0 Tdi Altitude Twoies ??

I’ve got plenty to choose from with some ( quite literally ) massive savings -

Far better than any other " Chelsea Tractor " and good enough off road to be able to help you round the farm dude

Drop me a line if you fancy some info

What about a new style XK coupe…

If your looking at Lotus then what about a 340R, used to have one they are mental.

I have one of these Milleman

and three 6 wheel drive zil 131’s plus a 90 landy for offroad fun…and 200 acres of play area…

The debate is making me head down the speedy classic, lotus, Maybe Aston, maybe a ferrari, although i would love an old roller again…and the mercedes for the luxury bit…
